The first Missouri Mavericks game was a sell out, a thriller and a moment in time most of us won't forget for a long whiel.
I didn't know what to expect when I arrived at the Independence Events Center, but I know that I liked what I saw - both on and off the ice.
The Events Center staff was personable and knowledgeable. The game itself was spellbinding as the Mavericks overcame a 2-0 deficit to claim a 3-2 shootout win that featured the glovework of goaltender Doug Groenestege and the marksmanship of Chad Hinz, Jeff MacDermid and Bill Vandermeer.

The excitement for the first Mavericks game in the new Events Center began with all of the traffic before the game started.  It was absolutely wonderful to see so many people coming into our city.  The Events Center was surrounded by news teams from what appeared to be all of the local television stations.

Grafitti, there is a word I seen alot lately. Whats everyone elses opinion? Whats the real story? Is it art? Is it vandalism? Is it gang related? I enjoy discussing some issues from a broad perspective. Some believe it kills a community, others seem to have different ideas.  Allow us to escape the narrow mindset and see things in clear light.

1) If a woman borrows money to get a breast enlargement and later defaults on the loan, can the bank repossess?

2) Are children who act in rated ‘R’ movies allowed to see them?

3) Why is a boxing ring square?

4) When a dog food label says it has improved taste, who is testing it?

5) Why is it illegal to park in a handicapped parking space but its OK to use a handicapped toilet?

6) Why are the numbers on a calculator and a phone reversed?

I didn't know that if you weren't home, the landlord can call the police and have them kick in the door to see if anyone is at home to serve summons papers...  It ended up that my sons girlfriend was there and they just threw the papers at her. She had to pick them up off of the floor...  Well, it happened to me and now I know what is more important to the poooolice than theft, drugs, etc.  A couple of my sons "friends"dropped off a stollen motorcycle at my house last year using a stollen pickup while my son was away.

Okay guys, I have been debating all day whether or not to post this blog about these 5 guys that molested these kids....  What I don't get is why did it take around 3 months for Lafayette and Independence to get their crap together in order to arrest them?  Then, I have to ask why it took so long for these kids (now adults) to turn in their family members?  I realize this story is still new and all the info is not out, but have you guys seen the probable cause statement from one of the molested involved.....  Some of the things their grandfather, dad, and uncles did was

I heard 4 million plus was transfered from Independence Power and Light fund to the general fund. Does anybody know if that is true?

Why do you all have to argue about something you can't do anything about. Life is to short to argue.If you have nothing better to do go help the needy or volunteer some where. Have a great day !

Mt Washington Cemetery located in Western Independence is a beautiful, historical, and botanically beautiful cemetery that is not only an important part of the Independence Community, but to the State Of Missouri as well. We have a blog with a  lady wanting to work to make  this cemetery free from any criminal activity, such as vandalism. I'd like to blog the other side. Where everyone speaks about the cemeteries good qualities.  Discuss history, famous notable's buried here, your own family, tell us about them.
