Greetings
As part of The Examiner's expanding online efforts, several staff members are launching new blogs this week. We hope we will be able to add to the already thriving online discussion, and perhaps generate some new topics as well.
My blog is called "Ask the Editor." This blog is designed to answer questions or concerns about the newspaper, our coverage, or anything pertaining to The Examiner. I am not, however, a technical guru, so I can not fix problems with the computer or site, but I will be glad to pass it along to the appropriate people.
Just to get things started, I will tell you a little about myself so you know who you are blogging with. My name is Dale Brendel, and I am the executive editor of The Examiner. It is my job to manage the news, sports and other editorial content in The Examiner products. I have 20 years of journalism experience, starting here at The Examiner as a sports writer in 1987 after graduating from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. I am a local product all the way, having graduated from Fort Osage High School, and have lived in either Independence or Blue Springs my whole life, save for five years in Columbia, and a year as an editor of a newspaper in McAlester, Oklahoma. I have been in my current position for the last 10 years.
I love what I do and I am proud of our coverage of the local communities, though I am sure we miss some things from time to time. Our staff is dedicated and works hard to provide the best coverage possible. I don't buy into the notion that newspapers are dying. We, like other newspapers, have made some cutbacks to both products and staff, but our readership - both online and in the print edition - is thriving, and we are continually broadening our online product as the industry evolves that way.
I am not going to use this space to opine about political events or local issues, there are other places for that on this site, but if you have some story tips, feedback on already published stories, or questions about The Examiner, please post a entry on my blog and I will do my best to respond in a timely fashion.
Thanks for reading.

Dale,
In my blog on 10/6/09 I said, "I have some new information as of last week just after I arrived that harks back to the Examiner article about me in 1980". Let me elaborate:
I see another prediction has been made by someone I do not know but it is also based on Mormon theology. The first prediction was by Joseph Smith for a day in September 1836 corresponding to the Feast of Trumpets; that is on the day of the seventh New Moon (from the first New Moon two weeks before Passover, around Easter time). In the 1980 Examiner my prediction was the same day 144 years later. This event is to be one of great joy for everyone contrary to the reporter’s use of the words, "warning" and "catastrophic". No harm is to be done to anyone. It was probably due to such unreasonable fear that it failed. So I feel it is incumbent upon me to ratify the new prediction and make it clear that his term "fiery presence" must be taken with a positive mental attitude as well as with all due respect! You may have heard tell, "the third time is the charm". Let's hope so.
I do not know the man, but he gives his address as P.O. Box 14 / Independence, MO 64051 and it is definitely related to the Temple Lot as my prediction was. He does not give a date other than sometime in 2009. In order to be reasonably prepared, I would suggest preparations be made for Wednesday 11/11/2009 at 11:00AM or Friday Christmas Day 12/25/2009 at 7:00AM at and around the Temple Lot on River Blvd between Walnut and Lexington.

What's this? Another prediction? Joseph Smith? End times? What goes?
I find my new website - http://kymak.110mb.com/KYMAK.txt - is not always working.

Hey Douglas! I just wanted to inform you that Mr. Harvey is no longer on the blog with us, I'm sorry you were not informed of this. I'm not totally sure of why he is no longer with us, but I'm pretty sure it might have had something to do with him and his abusive behavior toward 2 bloggers and several repeat violations of the blog guidelines. Just an FYI for you!
That's ok. I should be prepared for that by now. I will take on all comers who have a case against the theology of YHWH in the Bible, the Book of Mormon or His Revelations to Joseh Smith as they relate to the Cause of Architecture.

Douglas, thanks for your post. Eldoggg is right, and thanks Eldoggg for trying to explain, but the purpose of this blog is to answer questions about the newspaper coverage or policy, though there haven't been that many so far. If you have something you would like me to take a look at, however, I would be glad to. Just send to my email at dale.brendel@examiner.net. I haven't had the chance to look at the web sites you post, and to be honest, it all seems a little farfetched, but I am curious to find out what you are predicting to happen on 11/11?
Dale,
The prediction that was made by someone else written on the side of his van that has been parked around the Temple Lot at River and Lexington was of a '"fiery presence" (as I said in my comment above dated 10/9/09). That could be something like the burning bush which Moses saw. I think that would be less threatening than the descent of the Merkabah as I predicted in 1980. It would also be a good signal of another event which would then follow on Christmas morning. As you can see in the footnote I have added to the 1980 article http://kymak.110mb.com/Examiner.jpg Joseph Smith also saw the Merkabah to be on the Temple Lot.
I have decided to confirm the prediction since I am so fully prepared for it now far beyond what I was in 1980. There is enough detail in my plans and specifications for the New Jerusalem on my website that it could actually be built by architects if they were employed to do so by the big boys. The big boys do not understand this and probably never will. Therefore it seems expedient and therefore plausible to expect a miracle to convince them. It will be an occasion of great joy for all if we are prepared for it. This information will put you on top of the story if you decide to get on it, now; or at least release it to the press.
I will give you more info by email ASAP or if you have any specific questions. I know a lot of good people and have friends in Jackson who will vouch for my credibility. I can give references.
In the Cause of Architecture
NOTE:
English settlers from 1607 in Jamestown, VA and 1620 at Plymouth, MA believed the New Jerusalem would be built in America. Mormon theology elaborates on that idea. The KYMAK concept expresses it in terms of Architecture and City Planning. In a cadastral survey the point of beginning is in Independence, Missouri.

...................I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE FOLLOW UP STORY ON DECEMBER 26th................there WILL be a follow up story WON'T there?.............isn't this a little late to be commissioning the New Jerusalem?...........here's a thought douglaslab...........why would the creator of the universe need YOU to help him build the New Jerusalem?........I'm just saying...........after the Grand Canyon , a few rain forests , mountain ranges and oceans , it's really all down hill from there isn't it?...........maybe try breaking the prozacs in half tomorrow........but to be fair , I guess it iS a story tip............it SHOULD make the front page ...........so in keeping with the parameters of the blog header I must use this post to give a story tip of my OWN...........here it is..........."on November the 10th , 2009 at 1:32pm , Mickey Mouse and Pluto are going to descend from the sky and pick me up with a hot air balloon , at 23rd and Lee's Summit Road..............there is "window of opportunity" for the Examiner to "get on top" of THIS story now if they want to release it to the press..................and people wonder why I enjoy blogging..........you can't BUY entertainment this good...............

You may call me a dreamer, but I'm not the only one:
"In the eyes of the Puritans this was the peculiar opportunity of New England. Why not for once see what true orthodoxy could accomplish Why not in one unspoiled corner of the world declare a truce on doubts, on theological bickering. Here at last men could devote their full energy to applying Christianity -- not to clarifying doctrine but to building Zion."

"Thou shalt ask and it shall be revealed unto you in my own due time where the New Jerusalem shall be built."(44:47)
"And thus saith the Lord your God...the place which is now called Independence (Missouri) is the center place"... (57:3)
"I have many times asked the question, where is the man that knows how to lay the first rock for the wall that is to surround the New Jerusalem or the Zion of God on the earth...He has called upon us to do this work; and if we will let Him work by, through, and with us, He can accomplish it.
Brigham Young, April 17,1870
Journal of Discourses 13:313
"Which city shall be built, beginning at the temple lot, which is appointed by the finger of the Lord, in the western boundaries of the State of Missouri"... (84:3)
.."declare a truce on doubts"...
I have suggested Armistice Day, November 11, 2009.

.......once again.............is this a Mormon theology site?.............or the freakin editor's site?...........it would appear Mr.douglaslab that there may be comprehension issues..........so in the interest of educating the intellectually challenged.............let me reprint the editor's response from October 15th , 11:35 pm...............

It is because you asked for it in your previous post, I quote:
"?.............isn't this a little late to be commissioning the New Jerusalem?...........here's a thought douglaslab...........why would the creator of the universe need YOU to help him build the New Jerusalem?........"
I'm just saying everyone who is a Christian longs for it and the Laws of our States and Nation related to city planning demand it. English settlers did their part 400 or so years ago. Believers in the Book of Mormon did their part almost 200 years ago. I accept it as a profound professional responsibility now to do my part in the cause of architecture. I admit I can do nothing of myself; there are many others involved in the process. I am hereby acknowledging the need for an assist from Divine Providence and express my firm reliance on that possibility; however strange or impossible that may seem to an unbeliever; unless you have at least a desire to believe you will probably never see it or admit it. I hope my effort will serve to prepare the way. I am trying to answer the questions you raise for the benefit of the readers. Thanks for asking; but as the man said, why not "declare a truce on doubts" for now?
In the Cause of Architecture
douglaslab.......alright ........it was a rhetorical question but you DO have me on a technicality.............I just dont' feel that it is a good witness for you to highjack the editor's site for the futherance of your religious beliefs.......he put it up here for a reason.........he asked you to e-mail him instead of using the site for your personal use..........you can post whatever you want on the rest of the Examiner blog site........why do you feel obligated to rape the editor's site?...............and to blatantly defy his wishes?..............then you expect HIM to listen to YOU?..........are all of your countrymen this stubborn and defiant to authority?..............I gotta tell you , if anybody EVER brought this up in person to me now?........I would shut them down INSTANTLY because of your behaviour.......it wouldn't be worth trying to get rid of them for three hours..............ponder that for a while........
eldoggg
All I can say about this Eldoggg is the fact that right now I'm glad I have a different religious stance right now, b/c I would have to puke if not.... I'm not a very religious person, but for this person to defy what Dale has specifically asked him to not do it extremely wrong and he needs to get off the blog and email Dale personally. My family raised me baptist/catholic and my hubby is catholic, but I don't follow either one of these religions so therefore I won't shove the religious junk down anyones throat. I seriously doubt he is who he claims to be or what he claims is going to happen. Just like I don't think god is going to fall from the heavens and decide to land butt first on the spiral temple and slide down like they claim. SORRY, don't believe in it! Here is my "religious" rant!!!! HAVE A NICE DAY doulaslab............
To that, I would simply add:
To a non-Mormon, his website is totally confusing, full of "insider jargon", and its pages are way, way too long!
I STILL have no idea what "KYMAK" stands for, and you'd think that'd be one of the FIRST things he defines, since it is mentioned so prominently in so many places.
So, yes, let's have this person take his "promoting your religious prophetical proselytizing" somewhere else.... and while he's at it, he should seriously do some reading regarding "making your website user-friendly".
(Sheesh! Even if I was SERIOUSLY interested in his topic, his site design would have sent me elsewhere.)
......I'm pretty sure "KYMAK" is the sound you make when you have the dry heaves.............
eldoggg
Hello DRaasch! EXACTLY, it was so annoying to begin with, but I also feel it is a load of crap also! As far as KYMAK never heard of it and I'm afraid to find out what it is to be honest with you, LOL......
.......lol......

Dale,
I am in Independence again and stopped by your office this morning on the way to the KC branch Library at River and Walnut. I have an update on my continuing saga that may be of interest to your readers. It is about the Cause of Architecture and the problems of City Planning which is the what my website is all about.
I have a new website: http://kymak.110mb.com/KYMAK.txt
Old website: http://www.geocities.com/douglas36601/KYMAK.html
I suppose you may regard this info as a press release. It may seem that I am promoting my product or something but if it seems like a commercial effort it is only because I thought it best to go about it in a business like manner; in that regard however i consider myself a drummer and so I am not dealing with the general public. Rather I am dealing with Architects and Public Officials. i.e., the Government at all levels, State, Local and Federal. I am a research Architect specializing in the aesthetic problems of site selection.
I am not a very good writer so it would be nice to have a professional to put all this into words that the general public could understand. I would be glad to meet with you or one of your reporters for that purpose. I have some new information as of last week just after I arrived that harks back to the Examiner article about me in 1980 if that is the only thing about my efforts your readers are interested in..
I return to Mobile early next week.

"I have a new website: http://kymak.110mb.com/KYMAK.txt
Old website: http://www.geocities.com/douglas36601/KYMAK.html"
A little free technical help: rename the file "KYMAK.txt" to "KYMAK.html". As it is now, most browsers will render your page as black text on white background. We don't want everyone to miss out on your yellow/purple/red color scheme do we? If you've mastered city planning as you've mastered the color spectrum, your New Jerusalem will no doubt be a utopia.
Utopia is a Latin word isn’t it? It means, “Nowhere”. The New Jerusalem is somewhere if not everywhere. But I guess you mean a place of ideal peace and beauty; then that is true. It comes down out of Heaven but the architectural problem begins with site selection and site planning. That is where the KYMAK concept comes in. Do you see?
The Center Place or Point of Beginning (POB) was marked in 1831 here in Independence, MO. No one ever bothered to consult an architect so things got a little confused. I hope to clear that up as YHWH ("The LORD" ) provides.

........here's an idea douglaslab.......act like an adult instead of a child and make your own blog header here on the Examiner site................do you receive some perverse pleasure by raping the editor's site?.............do you somehow think he's going to read your fiction by it's placement it here?.............I can only look forward to after the holidays , when you have been picked up by your "chariot of fire"..............but if for some reason you still find yourself here on this earth?.............may I suggest that YOU take a look at the website that I directed "chicken little " to...............you see , she thought the sky was falling...........

WOW! As entertaining as this may be, I still don't believe it! SORRY! I'm glad you got the "technical" difficulties worked out since it really was a no brainer, but I have to ask why you care so much about something that most don't believe in?
