Saturday night at 8:30 I was sitting in my livingroom watching tv and my door bell ran. I went to the door and asked who's there. I couldn't understand the person and asked them again. She replied that she needed to use my phone. I asked if she needed me to call the police for her and she said no that her car had broken down and she needed to call someone. I told her she could not use my phone. By this time my daughter had gone into the bathroom that faces the front of my house and could see a black woman leaving my front porch and walking a couple houses away and getting into an occupied pickup truck and they drove away. WTF I hate to think what may have happened if I would have opened the door.

I''ve learned a good trick...
My first choice of course would be a shot gun by the door, but as i get older and wiser...
I have realized that a small flash camera works extreamly well...
Had a bout with a few teenagers around here a few years ago...
they were just being jerks and I was being an old fart...but I knew if I hurt one of them I would end up in Jail...
So the next time they came by I started taking there pictures... I had pic's of all 5 of them and then I called the IPD and the problem was over... no one got hurt and they grew up some when the cops hauled them off to IPD...
U can get a good camera now for 20 bucks, most important part is the FLASH,
FLASHING CAMERA AT NIGHT... crooks don't like it....

Fortunately, we don't have much going on in our sublte n-hood, but I will definitely add a flash device right beside my stun gun.

The good thing is your daughter also got a look at the situation and learned from it. I have heard people doing that and then once inside they will rob the person and/or cause injury. That is seriously scary on all levels, did you call the cops over it?

You know times have changed. That we all know, the fact is with the changing of time , so must we to adopt with it.
I'm so glad that you didn't open the door and that everything turned out alright.
Still with that being said , I totally agree with having something by the door. I do. I don't keep a gun by the door, but I have several bats and then of course my 4 legged animals sleep there through out the night. I have lived here in the same house for 16-17 years and twice someone try to break into my home when no one was here. They would have been stop by my dogs. If I had been here it would have giving me enough time to take the shotgun out of the case and start blasting , because that is what I would have done. No one would have blamed you if you made that choice.
The camera is also a good idea. Let me just say this. That if you want extra security then go to radio shack get you a 50.00 dollar security setup that hooks up to your tv and then get a flood light installed. These things will keep jerks like that away.

a citizen comes out of his house deffending his life and Prop and he ends up going to jail..
the Hoodlums that were starting the problems, now become, misunderstood teenagers that were just goofing around...
But if they cave U R head in ans set your house on fire, U R gone ...
so how do U deside?
When i had the gun shop I heard these stories every day...
I was selling guns so I had to hold them up as the answer...
But more people get into trouble because they have one ...
Having a weapon and know when and how to use it are night & day apart...
