I always get excited when I learn a book I'm reading has been turned into a movie (BTW, cannot WAIT for the new Harry Potter movie this summer), but I've found a lot of people don't like going to these movies with me.
 
I'm quite critical of the storylines and the character development. Maybe it's snobby, but I just think these movie makers should take more caution to protect the integrity of the storylines I love so much.
 

Having worked at The Examiner for almost eight years (nine if you count the internship) now, I've been really blessed to work with some truly talented writers, including a few who have gone on to have books published (Bill Althaus, Jason Offutt and many more).
 
When I learned Toriano had written a book, I had to read it. I was excited to understand more about the guy who sat at his desk and worked so hard every day – barely saying a word most of the time.
 

At every Howard family function, my cousin stopped me and asked me if I'd read "Twilight" yet. My answer was always no. In fact, I'd heard little about it until she asked me.

Before I get too far into this whole blogging experience, I think I should tell you all a little more about myself. I grew up in Hiawatha, Kan., a small farm town 40 miles due west of St. Joseph. Following high school, I attended Missouri Western State College (now University) in St. Joe and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in English with an emphasis in journalism.

When the newsroom received word we would be able to have featured blogs on the newspaper's Web site, I was really excited about the opportunity for our readers to have one more opportunity to interact with the staff – especially some of the behind-the-scenes staff that may not be out in public every day.
