Excited about a new author
With my list of summer books in mind, I finally picked up the book all my co-workers have been telling me about.
And I have to say I love it! I've never read anything by Jodi Picoult, but I'm glad "My Sister's Keeper" is my first. From the very first page I haven't been able to put this book down. The idea that a 13-year-old has spent her entire life knowing she was born only to keep her sister alive is fascinating. She wants her parents to love her and she wants the ability to say what happens to her body, which creates turmoil for everyone involved. Picoult has done an amazing job of making every character believable and loveable – although I have to admit I'm having a little bit of trouble loving the mom.
I'll keep you posted on how it goes, but I'm curious to know what the rest of you are reading.
PS. I picked up "In Cold Blood" this weekend and noticed that Capote dedicated his book to the author of "To Kill a Mockingbird."
