Capote so far

I must confess, I've not been a very dilligent bookworm this summer as I've only managed to fully read one book on my summer reading list. The second, I put down, and the third I really enjoy so far, but I'm having trouble finding time to concentrate long enough to read a page.

I will blame it on the baby as every time I have five seconds to myself I consume it with plans or thoughts for our little girl (due in January if you're curious). Still, I understand from my new-mother friends that I should be enjoying these moments open for reading as they'll be few and far between after my daughter is born.

I have found some time to get into Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood," and I have to say I really like it so far. Capote's writing style flows much more than I expected and his narration and descriptions paint a very vivid picture. I'm really surprised that I am enjoying this book as much as I am so far. When I said I wanted to challenge myself by reading this book, I really envisioned I would be challenging myself, but so far I'm really enjoying Capote's work.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on "In Cold Blood." Even if you've seen the movies, share your opinions.

.........it was so looooooooooong ago that I read it or seen the movie............Capote COULD write and make it an easy read...........I remember the movie with Robert Blake being edgy for it's time........kinda scary to this kid.......seems like it was in "black & white " too.........I just looked the movie up...no wonder my recollection is foggy........I was 9 when the movie came out.............1967...............

I read the book years and years ago also but I remember not being able to put it down. Also saw the movie, chilling! I don't re-read too many books but I might have to pick that one up again.

You can borrow my copy, Ginger.

One thing I really like about this book, is from the beginning (even if you have no knowledge of the story beforehand) you know what's going to happen and who the culprits are. Yet, Capote keeps you wanting to read more. It takes true talent to give away your ending at the beginning of you story and still keep your readers hooked.
