There are three different looks at the 3/8 of a cent tax proposal to hire more Poooliceee.
All of them against.
But the best one is L.Smith from Indep. His theory is the 3/8 OF a CENT tax will cause law-abiding people to give up their lives and turn to crime??????
Can’t U see it the way L. does?
John Q ,law abiding Person is at Wally World and spends $10. Clerk says sir that will be $10.07375 with then new tax for Poooliceee…
Well John Q looses it, throws down his stuff and says I won’t take anymore…
I was willing to spend the $10.07, but I will not spend the $10.07357, or $10.08…
I’ve changed my mind, he pulls a water pistol from his son’s back pack and says,
this is a stick up hand over the cash in the draw…
I can see it happening all over town…
Of course L. Smith is assuming that people who do crimes pay taxes???
I wonder what he is smoking; there must be a lot better dope out there than there was in the 60’s???????

When L. Smith's house gets broken into and there isn't a cop available...maybe they will wish they had supported the 3/8 cent tax.
Only a handful of people on this blog understand that a safe city is the most important priority. It doesn't matter if we have a new hockey arena, great places to shop and eat if the city isn't safe.
Breaking the perception that Independence is full of crime will take years of work.

As U have said most people want something,
they want it and 3/8’s of a cent isn't going to stop them.
I want more Cops on the streets, in the cars, avaible to make calls…
Indep. Does have crime, but its on the edges right now…Western edge Southern edge 40 Hwy,
but if we don’t stop it there it will be everywhere…
We need more boots on the ground…
Forget the 3/8’s cent I’d go the whole Penny………
Maybe you tried that dope you were referring to? Your original post made no sense at all.
A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.
did U read L.Smith's let to Ed in Sat Ex???
If not U r talkin out Ur .......... wel U no.?
