The economy is flat, times are Bad, the City leaders have to do a better job with our Tax $….
Porters article in Sat. paper, A-7 City’s new sports park mired in legal battle…
It seems we hired a lawn service company to put in a couple of ball fields.
They were so inept, that they looked at Mo Clay and just spread grass seed on it and it didn’t grown ???
Daaaa, how dumb do U have to be to do something like that?
Who hired these bozo’s…
Well it’s going to cost 4 or 5 $million to find out,
just wasted money…
Any guy from Missouri that has ever put in a garden knows you have to work up the soil…
Find me the dumbest gardener that works for Indep. A guy that dropped out of grade school and he will tell U that…
Next they let a group build a Athletic Complex over a portion of underground storage, owned by Space Center Inc.
Well part of the Complex consisted of damning up a creek to form a pond, over a warehouse that held
$1.2 million worth of flour???
Hey Earl, how much does a gallon of dirt weigh?
How much does a gallon of water weigh?
U see Earl is an engineer he knows these things, any one with a brain in there head should know these things.
Not the Clark Enersen Partners, URS, Corp.
But the City chose a Nebraska Engineer group TCEP to design the baseball field….???
Your gonna have to help me with this one, I can’t understand it, no one in Indep with and engineering Co. can lay out a base ball diamond???
Isn’t it like 60 or 90’ to first etc.. then around to home?
And there partners URS are in California….
So you see if the City had hired a local firm for the plans, maybe, just maybe, some one would have said.” hey there is a underground warehouse full of flour under this, are we really sure we want to put a Lake on top of it? Water is pretty heavy”, or something like that…
Just hiring a local firm that knew you have to develop soil in MO to get grass to grow, and you can’t build a lake over a cave, could have saved the City $5 to 9 million dollars in law suits…
Your money, tax payer $, that we could have hired more cops with, fixed roads, hell had a party…
Some how some way we have to get these people to do a better job…

"Take me out to the Ballgame..."

Nothing is going to change until some of our City Leaders are sent packing. It is a very similar situation to how a Professional Baseball Team operates. If there are too many errors on the field, and the winning results are not there, the following usually occurs. First the team fires the pitching/hitting coaches, and maybe the bench coach. Then the team contemplates trading a popular player who maybe hasn't been running out those ground balls like he used to. If that doesn't work, you start cleaning out the front office. It is a very simple concept. However, it is difficult to properly hold others accountable, when you don't have a standard of accountability for your own self.

they R not going to fire them selves...

That’s what the voters have been waiting for, won’t happen.
If they cared about our local economy why hire Calif. Firms for local jobs???
Even if locals charge more, which I doubt, if fires up the local economy….
Now the project will cost taxpayers in litigation.
The poor judgment on the Arena will cost millions too.
DO U think U could build ANYTHING with 2&1/2 year old plans for the same price???
When do U think they will tell us our $60 million is just a little short???

Flat Economy

What bothers me is why did they go with an out-of-state engineering firm? There are probably at least 20 firms in KC that could have done the job well. Same question with the arena design firm Kc has three of the top sports design firms in the nation.
Question of weights, dirt weighs more than water on a cubic foot basis. Dirt comes in at between 100 and 120 pounds per cubic foot, water at 62 pounds per cubic foot. So the affect of the pond depends on two things. Did they remove any of the existing over burden and how deep was the water?
