Morning news on Auto Bail out…

Morning news on Auto Bail out…
This am they are making more points for letting them go bankrupte and refit and start over…
Prob with the bail out is:
the ave autoworker makes $73 an hour with all the Bennie’s
Ave forgien auto worker $44,
Ave American Worker makes $28 an hour…
So if we bail them out, a guy makin $28 bucks an hour is going to bail out a guy that makes $73???
Plus Mike Barnacle made a great point if U go to England or Europe and rent a Ford it gets 40+MPG,
If you come home and buy this same car for your family, it gets 16mpg??? Why ?
And the present rule that the big three have to meet, all cars get 30mpg, by the year 2010, why wait…
sell us the same car they sell in Europe, let the chips fall and let the best guys come back with a better product….
Did You here about the Bank Program, the big three have, if they don’t have enough work, U show up drink some coffee and go home and get paid for the day ? DO YOU WANT TO BAIL THAT OUT ????
Your kid’s doin with out so these guys can get paid for stayin home, casue no one wants there crappy cars ?????

auto bailout

Maybe if somebody could "cap" the big-wigs,CEO"S,etc, salaries,perks,etc...they wouldn't need a "bail-out" I retired
from AT&T earlier this year,& our CEO was making $14,000,OOO, per year, not counting stock options, insurance,
who really knows what,EXTRA!!! Doesn't seem fair, when who knows for sure, how many people would be happy with
maybe $10-$12 bucks an hour. What about the people who "make babies",& get most of the "help"they need? By the
taxpayers.US.It just irks me,what's going on,& no-one can seem to stop it,or slow it down.Maybe Obama can & will, do
something,we can only hope

Just heard more on the big three

thee guys comin to DC for this senate hearing from the big three, from the fartest one away could have had a first class ticket for $800 bucks, NOOOOO they took the company's planes to the tune of 25 to 50 grand apiece to get there ... U want to bail these guys out?? Your clipping coupons to save $.50 and these jerks are in private planes...

Jets

Commercial jet passenger ticket is certainly cheaper than a private jet, but I would question your 25-50 thou for one round trip flight. You can lease a Lear 8 seater for $1,700./hr. so an 8 hr. rental would run about 14 thou. The GM company jet is probably bought and paid for and sitting on the tarmac. Whether the exec. flies it or not it still has a cost attached. So amortized over its lifetime its going to be less than lease, more than commercial. Train would have been cheaper, even a SUV would have been economical. No, I don't want to bail out these "jerks". I want to salvage the companies without them and without the wage and benefit package they gave the UAW. (The only way out of the union conracts may be Chapter 11). They have shown that their leadership has been inept. Why prolong it? Romney has been touted as a possible replacement. His Dad turned AMC around, he himself has salvaged other enterprises, including the Salt Lake Olympics. Why not give him a shot? Assuming he would bite.

As I said I don't just dream this crap...

CNN this am the cost of the private jets the big three used to go to DC, GM $20, Chy, $18, and Ford said theirs is a rental so a lot cheaper around $10 grand so thats my $20 to $50 grand for a ride that cold have cost $3 grand for all three on a commerical plane, ...
So I don't want to give them any more money to waste..

Actually they were Mit's figures I was speaking from,

he was on the morning shows and did speak of his Dad and AMC
and Yes he said the same thing U did, chap 11 loose the Union dead horse and the management and lets start over with a new group the best of the best, maybe a Coop Deal and new management, and build the best car in the world,
Cool, fast roomy, and gets 40 to 50mpg at about $25 grand? now that would make money and make every one happy...
then have the really cheap, KIA types and have the Beamers and Audi's...
Gotta remember I don't make this crap up, I hear it some where on the cable news...

Figures

Its kinda like the guy who wants to give 200,000,000 people $425,000 each from the $85,000,000,000 bailout pot. Needs to check the figures before he publishes. Just because somebody says a private jet ride costs $25,000 don't make it so.

Bottom line

Here's the article I read regarding the cost.

Either way, it demostrates the mentality of these corporate heads. What kills me about the American auto industry is that each of the big three has so many different models in each segment. GM has about 50 different models under Pontiac, Chevy, GMC, Saturn, Caddy and Buick. Toyota has 18. Sure they can save by rebadging and sharing platforms, but there is still a lot of additional costs. If you look at Toyota and Honda, they each have one vehicle in each segment. Then they have their stand alone luxury line, which still consists of about 5 models each maker. We have to draw the line somewhere. I also tend to feel that some of these guys are preying on the panic and uncertainty that is going on. Sorry but with the way these companies are bleeding cash, the $85 billion isn't going to buy them enough time to turn around.

I don't mind

that GM, Ford, and Chrysler all have tons of models and such, but I do mind just handing over money and saying do what you will with it.

I remember reading 20 some odd years ago how oil was a finite resource. For the last 20 some odd years, the car manufacturers should have been working on fuel efficient cars and instead the cars just got bigger and bigger and less fuel efficient. The unions also seemed to get greedier. My wife works at a dealership as a finance manager and just did an application for a line worker at Ford and he makes 56 bucks an hour. While that's good for him, that's not good for the company. The CEO's who are making millions of dollars, awesome for them, sucks for the company.

Maybe we should let them file bankruptcy and get the "leadership" out of there, get rid of the unions, and start making cars that people want to buy. Right now it's like they make the cars and tell us that this is what you're gonna buy and if you don't, you're unAmerican.

American autos in Europe

Many reasons GM and Ford sell more autos in Europe (GM reportedly enjoys an 89% market share in Russia).. Wages are lower, Crash-tests are less stringent, emission controls are less demanding. Get the UAW to bring its wage and benefits package in line with those of the rest of the world and you will see these smaller, more fuel effecient vehecles in the U.S., although some models still can't sell here because of crash-safety criteria. And of course, both GM and Ford will need to scrap their big SUV and monster truck lines. GM has already put its Hummer division on the trading block.
