KuDo's to the Council last Night! ! !
I have to say they did a good job last night in turning down the lic for MMA fights at the "Old Dallas" Night club. No telling how much $$$$$ the saved us.
Again Thanks Col & Crew……….

I'm glad you are happy, but what do you suppose can go in that big glaring empty hole at one of the busiest intersections in town?
Antique Mall
Furniture Store
Michael's
Margarita's
Radio Shack (it'd have to be a big one)
Crate & Barrel
JC Penney Home Store
Sporting Goods store
move Petco there from 40 Highway (not something I'd want, but it wouldn't surprise me)
Antique mall and furniture store would suck. Seems we have quite a few of the discount furniture stores around here including the one up by 35th and Noland. I haven't seen an Antique mall that didn't look well to be honest a little trashy.
A MIchael's or something along those lines would be awesome right there.
You must not visit antique malls much. Brass Armadillo isn't trashy... plus there's a real high-class one out in Mission. I'd say about 70% of the anitque malls I've been in look good and are well-run. The one up in Claycomo's kinda trashy-looking. But then again, quite often you can find something that's underpriced there.
And who said anything about "discount" furniture stores? How about a DECENT FURNITURE store? Maybe something BETWEEN the level of a "discount" furniture store... and a Dillards? I for one do NOT want to shop at Nebraska Funiture Mart.
.......well I guess antique stores are pretty popular then......even though they're "full of junk and kind of trashy"...........because Mr.Wood goes to them all the time .......even TODAY...........maybe it WAS a good idea after all , Robo Dave..........

Hey, the guy was spot on in his assessment of the 4 month old 17 lb buff babies. Not to mention those breast fed little milking machines probably have jaws on them like a bear trap.
Unfortunately for me, my wife likes shopping and I like my wife so we go to these places all the time. We never buy anthing though. I find them mostly just full of junk and kind of trashy and I think we have plenty here in Independence.
And you know what I mean by "discount" furniture stores, I think we have plenty of them here in Independence as well. I wouldn't mind seeing a decent one.
I was talking to my wife today about what would be a good fit in there and she was definitely of the opinion that a craft store would be awesome. We have JoAnn's over by Target and Hobby Lobby is moving down by Bass Pro (which I also think is a bad idea). I think that between the Auto Store and the ACE there, ya put in a craft store and a resturant (I liked the Golden Corral while they were there) and I think you have a winner.
Since my neighborhood's expectations were dashed at Noland and Aberdeen, how about a grocery store. Not the Hy-Vee or Price Chopper but one like Hen House whose products are bought locally. Or how about creating a year round Farmers Market in the building for local produce, crafts, breads, cheeses, milk, etc. Other Cities our size have them 250 days a year, and I believe it will surprise most as to the popularity of it here. Got our Hardware Store in old Osco Building, Auto Parts store for those with Autos, Mexican food for Chicken or Beef Nachos. We have waited, at times not so, patiently for the out of the ordinary, unique, grocery store with the same prices as big box Hy-Vee and Price Chopper but with local seasonal foods that would draw people to it for their unique products. Excellent location, a block from residential districts both east and west.
Would sound good, but is that space big enough? I would imagine that a Hen House would want to build their own building. Maybe the old Wally's space, but I don't see enough parking there.
There might be enough space for one of those Cosentino's markets, but Noland Rd is not the Plaza or Power and Light District.
If I had the capital and knowledge of either brewing or the restaurant business, I would find that spot an excellent size and location for a brewpub. The only two good, locally based brewpubs in this metro are McCoys in Westport and 75th Street in Waldo. Even the chain brewpubs aren't close to here, but they would only consider the Little Blue area if they did come this way.
Now that would be an excellent addition to the Noland Rd corridor (or the Square, even). And those worried that there is another source for 'evil' alcohol can rest assured that these are not the type of places that attract teens looking for a cheap drunk or heaven forbid like the dreaded hip-hop music.
That would be awesome, but I not sure that a grocery store would be able to compete with the combo right down the street. I do know that the Hy-Vee on 23rd sells some local products there.
Henhouse also sells Tippins Pies and that would be cool seeing as how Tippins went out of business a few years ago.
nothin for couple of years but i ain't gonna pay for it, ..... hpw about a "Puck" shop??
Hey Hey ole' boy how ya doin? Long time no see, hope all is well..... Yeah, I thought they did a great job about it too!
