Just got back for the HyVee Vet’s breakfast…

Just got back for the HyVee Vet’s breakfast…
It was really nice and free for vet’s Don the store manager were counting heads and it look like 400 to 500 were there from 7am to 11am…
Thanks HyVee and to all the people that came up and thanked us for our service…
I ate breakfast with a Korean Vet and then had coffee with some Vietnam guys, telling lies and laughin about the good parts of the crazy think called Vietnam…
I’m havin a glass of Jim Beams finest; I have a potato in the oven and a steak warmin up on the counter so this is going to be a good Veterans Day for me and the dog….
Hope to see more of U next year….

Thank you

I'm glad you had a good breakfast and than you for serving our country!

Unfortunately, I didn't get to go

my wife is sick. She thinks more of my service than I do so I always go to these things with her.

Even though I'm proud I served, the real heroes are the people that didn't make it back home or made it back home with broken bodies.

I'm glad you enjoyed the day though. Sounds like it was and continues to be a good one for you.

You know....

My daddy always said it isn't who served in a war that made you a vet, it is the one willing to defend the honor of our rights that makes you a vet. For the longest time I could never figure it out, and it irritated me so much. Then he got sick and my mom tried her hardest to get him help and she was finally able to get one doctor to listen to her. Now, my mom is tired of fighting the war with the doctors and everyone else and I'm the one doing it for him to make sure he gets everything he needs.

The point of it was to never give up on what you believe in and love. My daddy was a military sniper and he served in the war overseas and he loved it, but he also had to defend the honor of fallin soldiers and that was saddening to him. The all had families that had to be told and a few of them where his friends that he just didn't want to believe had been killed, but he stayed and defended what he believed in. I got very lucky to have a father that is who he is, a very good man and like every other man been through a lot. He loves my mom and his family, but his heart lies with his buddies in the military. He no longer has friends from the military that he sees nor do they want anything to do with each other, not sure what happened there, but when it comes down to it he still knows his buddies. Especially the ones that were fallin and will not get to see their children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren.....

My daddy no longer has any military papers to prove anything they were burned up in a fire, he went up there yesterday to get a breakfast and couldn't because it was so packed and he said the line was all the way back to the Bakery as which is where my hubby works and no where to sit. So he left and Craig sent home a cinnamon roll for him to have, I felt bad about that if my dad would have told me he was going I could have already had his breakfast ready for him. My daddy just had surgery and wasn't really suppose to be driving let alone walking as far as he did, I could have dropped him off at the front and called in his breakfast to have it ready, then he could have went to the Bakery to eat while getting a free pumpkin pie. Oh well!

Thank you for all you guys have done, it has been wonderful! Dwood87 I hope your wife gets to feeling better soon and to a point I agree with you, but I don't. They are heroes because they were willing to take their lives for this country, but the ones that got to come home is also a hero for defending the ones that were falling and the everyone else's honors too.

Gee sorry he didn’t stick around I would have liked to have met

Gee sorry he didn’t stick around
I would have liked to have met him…
Maybe we could make a date to meet and I’ll buy breakfast for us? Let me know when he feels up to it…
The crowd was large but very friendly and the line moved fast thanks to all the HyVee Managers who were serving the troops… and the good conversations in line made it move fast… we did linger to jaw bone after but most moved around to meet every one so there was a good flow…
I didn’t realize a guy took advantage to rob the bank there while we were eating breakfast???
