Jacob Brown’s ideal in Fridays paper was a great idea…

How about a skate park up on the new Indep Square…
That would work out great for all the kids to have a special place to go and have fun.
Jacob I think the person You need to get on board is Cindy McClain, she has a lot of business up there and her husband loves to help out the boy scouts so they would prob be a big help to you…

Re:

A good idea

My son Chris was a passionate skater. But I don't think that the Square is the place for the skaters. I am working on an idea to open an indoor skate park here in Independence. It would be a place for the kids to skate safely indoors, and a place to buy their equipment, skate clothes, and there will be a juice and snack bar. I am planning on naming it after my son. It's an idea in it's very early stages, but it will be opened. And it will be a safe and positive environment. We will hold tournaments, have lock-in nights, and possibly offer lessons. I'm very excited about this, it seems the best way to honor Chris and what he loved doing more than anything.

An indoor skating arena sounds like a great idea. Hon, our hearts go out to you. I'm sure you can tell.our hearts go out to you. I think this is a fabulous idea.

indoor park you say?

Wow that would be pretty cool. I waited FOREVER for the outdoor one and now maybe an indoor one? Sounds good to me! I grew up skating the Independence Square and down town KC but I'm much older now so riding a few ramps and grinding some rails and ledges is just fine with me. Let me know if theres anything I can be of service of. I've been aggressive inlining for eleven years now so I have some good experience with the inline industry and I know a lot of the good older local skateboarders. But anyways yeah, hope the indoor park opens sooner than later! Good Luck!

Slip, sliding away

Sixty is just around the corner, but I enjoy skating. It is one of the few frictionless activities that those of us who are losing their grip on life, can still find enjoyable.
