Stevie Wonder Show

One thing I truly enjoy is being an ambassador at Starlight Theatre (who BTW supports The Examiner's NIE Program ( NewsPapers in Education.. providing Examiners at no cost to our area's schools).

This past Friday, as an ambassador  I had the privelage to see Stevie Wonder perform.   What a thrill, I was there for the sound check and to hear Stevie Wonder want to retake some bars on "Higher Ground". That  is something not alot of people can say they've heard.

Stevie dedicated his show to Michael Jackson who was his friend.  At one point he and his band  played  just the rythym of Billie Jean and the crowd of 8 thousand sang all the vocals perfectly.  Stevie Wonder broke in with an ocassional "Hee-Hee".

I got to thinking, there has been alot of venom on this Blog about Michael Jackson. Sure he got weird.  Was he really a child-molester?  In the court of public opinion yes.  In a court of law no.

I met a guy last week that is convinced President Obama is a radical Muslim. There is not a  court anywhere that would convince him otherwise.

Regardless of any performer's real or tabloid private life,  I like to think about what their work meant not just to me but culture as a whole.

To put this is in perspective my absolute favorite actor was Peter Sellers.  There is a biography on him and how weird he was.     Supposedly he asked his grown children to change their last name because he longer  wanted to be considered  their Father.
I'll still admire his acting.
For what is worth...my 2 cents.

Joe you got The Lucky Dog Award. I am a big Stevie Wonder fan just as I was a Michael fan. In this world we are  judged alot but in the end only "One True Judge" matters. Great blog!!!   xox

Joe, My Friendly Neighborhood Cartoonist, I never did get into Peter Sellers much. I never understood his brand of  humor.  I do like your middle of the line approach to Michael Jackson. His music and dancing were pure genius.  How about a poll, who has seen Michael Jackson perform?  And what year?  I think you may be surprised. It good to target all ages for interest, people are constantly moving into Independence.  The demographic are changing.

........you know I love ya Joe.......think you've got your finger on the pulse of society with your editorial gags......AND I love Stevie Wonder........put out some of my favorite music in the 70's and 80's........I thought Michael Jackson  was an exceptional songwriter , dancer , performer , singer......a TRUE superstar.........whose father screwed  him up irrepairably...as well as the some of the other kids......yeah ......Joe got the job done.......they got out of the $10,000 house in Gary , Indiana......and they were famous.......but at what cost?......I jammed to Michael's music in the 80's........and I'm not usually into  pop music.....I have taken the stance in my blog posts of stopping short  of saying "that I KNEW he was a pedophile".......I don't wish ill on anybody.....and normally?....... I don't make a practice of  talking about the dead.....but there's nothing normal about Michael or his life.......he created this media circus.......normally I believe in life that it is better to be positve than negative.......if every subject on the "Examiner Blog " site were to be filtered and "sugar coated"......or just glaringly silent about bad stuff.......in any situation?.....whether it be about city politics or politicians or fireworks or whatever?.........well.......it would be pretty boring on here.......not really a slice of "society's thoughts"....but more of a "Hallmark Card"........we have been bombarded for 5 days on EVERY news channel about this guy.......it;'s one thing that is going on right now.....my information ....as well as everybody elses.....has come from past newspaper articles , Michael's own televised interviews , statements from his family , Associated Press releases on the internet., news reporters and documentarys on CNN , MSNBC , Fox News  , VH1 and a host of others.......so if the blog posts seem to be venomous.........they're based on observations given to us from the media......who got them from Michael's family , friends , life , court proceedings , and whatever.......so maybe the acts which spawned the observations which spawned the opinions which spawned the blog posts..........were venomous in nature.........things rolll downhill.......when a public figure lives their life the way that they do........inciting and using the media.....they have to expect to be scrutinized in the "court of public opinion"......I keep hearing how he wasn't convicted.........Gotti escaped conviction on several trials....from jurors being "bought off"........O'J. was never convicted in crminal court of double murder..........Michael paid 20,000,000 to the first plaintiff........who then refused to testify at the criminal trial........how anybody could construe that an innocent man would pay out 20,000,000 and that it "wasn't  the same thing as buying off a juror?"......is beyond me...........so while we need to mention the positive culture contribution that he made......as arguably  THE biggest superstar ever........bigger than Elvis world wide........sold more albums than ANYBODY........and his music from the 80's WAS pure genius...........I think we're entitled to express our opinions.......negative OR positive..........as this is what "blogs" are all about........it's not my intention to offend Michael  Jackson fans......I was a fan too......of his music......and talent........I almost feel like apologizing for my opinion........but I can't.........keep up the funny gags.......we're lucky to have a talent like yours at our hometown newspaper...........shalom.......

.......ROFL........don't EVEN get me started............ole Al is filtering what he says......he's walkin a tightrope better than the freakin Wallendas.......... ha ha ha ha........ole Joe and Janet were at the BET awards last night...apparantly all smiles but "grief stricken"......ole Joe didn't express grief at losing a son.......but at losing "the world's greatest SUPERSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR"............his sister kept saying how sorry she is at the loss........I don't think she's seen him in years......but I COULD be wrong here........and I  don't think Michael made alot of the family picnics with ole Joe.............but hey....I'd be dissapointed if the "Jackson Family" reacted ANY other way......after all.......as Jesse and Al know........it's a great opportunity to keep soaking up some of that "spotlight" that the Jackson Family has so glaringly been missing......at least since  Janet did HER parlor trick and showed the world her nipple (accidentally of course) at the Super bowl.........ROFL...........hopefully you didn't detect any hostility in that disparaging remark.......this is mainly how I amuse myself while watching the mindless dribble on T.V........while I use my left hand to play tug -a -war with my main man.......Bubby.......my longhaired dachshund associate................ ha ha ha ha ha.........maybe I'm in the "peanut gallery"...........LMAO........
