"OUR" Independence Square

I have been meaning to comment on this for some time.

The re- development , care and business additions to the Independence Square area have been wonderful.

The one thing I always thought was a negative message and detrimental as a gateway into the Square was taken care of sometime last year.

The pawn shop on Osage had a large  ( I think 5 by 8 foot)  Monsiuer Zig-Zag  Logo sign on their building.  For those of you not sure what I'm talking about,  this image is the  trademark image of a Turkish Nomad for cigarette rolling papers.

Kudos to those responsible for removing this.

I remember a few years back taking my Mother back from the Truman Library, going through the Square and joking if anyone wanted to stop and buy a souvenier bong.

I think removing that Zig-Zag was a great improvement, I always wondered about that when I traveled to Independence, MO.  Thank you for having the expertise to get the job accomplished.

How about those Maverick Tickets, have you purchased yours?  How about the Examiner doing a promotional and giving out t-shirts to a lucky Hockey Fan contest winner?
Thank you,

Laharl,

Welcome to the area.   I am a transplant myself.  Where are you from?
To comment, I had nothing to do with the Zig-Zag sign.   I always thought it sent a bad message, and noticed it removed last year and just wanted to comment on it.

I will be buying Maverick tickets but for single games.  I have 2 sons in college so once I know their schedules and breaks I'll know what games to buy.

I am not sure what kind of promos the Examiner has in mind with our hockey team partner , but that is a great idea.   I know our publisher and editors read the blogs religiously so your point is well considered.

Thank you for your input in the blogs, I really enjoy your slants,

Thank you for your comments, I may have been sharing my thoughts a little much the last few days, but it is like a hobby.  You know in between work and all.  I know all about the windy city, and the Cook county proper.  I think Independence would be a refreshing change!

Promotions are always great and add excitment to anything, t-shirt, tickets, blogger of the month, everyone in American loves a little notice.   I have learned not to want notice for myself, but it is nice to see people happy. Everyone so far has added a special spin on things, You are cultured, Jeff is smart and clever, Andre is loveable, and mminnoe is mminnoe, Elisa is kind, and Civil is smart the others are quite interesting, I hope I can fit in!

.....that's an excellent idea Laharl.......your blog posts have had good activity.......the personalities of the bloggers reminds me of the  "Dirty Dozen".........ROFL.......where  inaccurate posts are shredded like cole slaw.......an interesting group of people to be sure......as diverse as we are OPINIONATED........that's what makes it fun.......keep up the good work.........and welcome to Independence........MISSOURI....."the show me state".......hmmmmmm........guess we have a heritage of not believing everything we hear.........as far as a "blogger of the month".....with a door prize or a T-Shirt.......how would it be picked up....at a safety deposit box at an undisclosed location......like the "Federal Witness Protection Program".........so the blogger doesn't end up being "Jimmy Hoffa's"  neighbor.......wherever THAT is...........

OMG OMG, How did you know eldoggg, I was in the"Federal Witness Protection Program?"

I like your font, too.  My kids said  my font was like a first grader.

.......good point.......it did  set a mood for that area.......which would be fine if you were in Encino , California......at one of the many  herb shops for  people who are in pain........Independence has a proud heritage......Harry's  home isn't far from there....the "Vaille Mansion"........I got married at the "Bingham Wagner Estate".........VERY cool..........Lee's Summit has rejuvenated their downtown too.......where some of "Frank and Jesse's " buddies hung out......"Cole Younger".....I'm glad to see that K.C . has finally started to utilize the "riverfront" as so many  other ciities do.....San Antonio...St Louis......if in a smaller way.......Independence has always had a charm on the sqaure......I remember going to buy Levi's there......when they were $12.......as well as going to look at instruments at  Turner  Music Company while my mom shopped.........Palmer Junior High.....glad to see it's being kept up..........
