Public Safety
Chief of Police Tom Dailey is about town presenting some pretty compelling information about crime in the City of Independence. Women tend to be particularly sensitive about the topic of crime. They feel vulernable to more crimes than men and that even women without natural-born children possess a protective instinct. Independence is perceived as an area of high-crime, and there are statistics readily available that reveal what crimes are being committed and where.
Is it snooping or being a mom?
I would really like to hear from you moms (and dads) out there about how you are dealing with your kids and their use of social networking sites like myspace and facebook. Do you trust your kids to use these responsibly? Do you insist on being linked in as a friend or do you let them block you? Have you had the talk about the dangers of online predators and identity theft? Have you warned them about posting photos that they, umm, may not want a future employer to find someday? Or a future parent-in-law? I have to say I have been a bit remiss to have all those talks with my teen.
Welcome to Jackie's world
I know what you're wondering. What's with the silhouette??? Is she in the witness protection program or something?
No. It's just that I, Jackie, am everywoman. I'm single. I'm married. I'm retired. I'm a young careerwoman. Kids. No kids. You get it. I represent all the wonderful women of Eastern Jackson County. And I want to hear from you.
