Is this how we want the city to spent our tax dollars?

Am I the only one that has a problem with the Mayor and city counsel of Blue Springs going to the Elms Resort in Excelsior Springs for two days to hold an out of town meeting??? The city spent $3,300 of our hard earned tax dollars in another city to talk about the "vision for Blue Springs"  Why did they need to go out of town!!!!We don't have a good enough hotels or conference rooms with lunch in Blue Springs??????? Excuse me $2,000 for a meeting facilitator????? You could have called me I would have kept the meeting on track for a lot less!! We need to hold our city government accountable. Remember people we can and do vote.

This story is old news, it happened way back in March. The EX did an editorial admonishing the city for lack of judgement. Heck, the City has committed backing $13 million more in bonds to RED at the Parkway since they spent that measley $5000 up at the Elms. And today the paper announced we're exploring the sales tax for police funding, like Indep. I hope their citizens advisory committee doesn't end up sounding like participants at a President Obama town hall meeting. It needs transparency, measured accountability and a sunset provision(5 yrs max)

This is my first time commenting here. What got my interest was the city spending money on an out of town "retreat". The city probably will need that money and more to bail out Red Development  and/ or other developers who want to protect themselves in the future. Also of interest is Laharl's comment about blogging at work!! All I can say is he/she must work for the government  or the Examiner!!!

.........LOVE spicy chicken from Popeye's......my first weiner dog  , Noodles, never met a chicken he wouldn't eat either......ROFL......he killed one at my grandpa's farm.......I thought they were going to cook "Noodles" up and eat HIM they were so pissed..........

Where are you from eldoggg, One time I was visiting a rural park and these people at he ajoining area were cooking steaks on the grill, this dog ( came out from no where) and grabbed the (big) steak off the grill and began wolfing it down.  They started shooting at the dog, luckily the dog escaped.  This was around Warsaw. I was never the same after that.

.......I hail from Independence........originally........and now again...........Noodles once got to the neighbor's steaks on the picnic table before we had a fence......he was laying in the backyard on his back......feet in the air......after he ate two  big steaks......according to the neighbor...........I love animals......dogs are my fave..........

Grandma it's sad that your Mayor and City Counsel had to go to Excelsior Springs to talk about their vision for Blue Springs. It shows how hard they are working on that vision. You are right we do need to hold our city government accountable. Times are hard and it's our money that they are spending. If I had a hotel with conference rooms in Blue Springs I would be very disappointed in the Mayor and City Counsel. Blogging is a great form of networking. These blogs bring people into your life that may disagree with you and give you a hard time but the beauty of these blogs is that they bring people to you that not only feel the same way you do but they want to work on the same issues you hold dear. then YES I should be under the scope…
And Pi$$in off $3300 bucks to play grab A$$ and eat lunch ain’t it?
They should divide the bill by number of eaters and send them a bill…
