Let's talk about Autism! Trying to get away from the political crapola, it is called a change of subject. LOL
How many people in the Jackson County area or anyone else that isn't in Jackson County are aware of what autism really is? How it affects people and their families and caregivers? There has been a lot of press about it, but how many of you really understand it and the full definition of what it is? I know MMinnoe you do, LOL.... So please feel free to put in your input, but be careful how you state things because there are parents that know what I am talking about with this!

My niece actually has Ausperger's and is quite functional in the world. There are varying degrees of autism, ranging from severe to mild forms. There is not real proof that there is a "vaccine" that can help all autistic children or adult. My sister, the mother of the one with Ausperger's actually works with adults with Austism.
My niece has actually graduated college with a degree in Graphic Arts and is currently working on starting her own Graphic Arts business. But when she was a child, she had the hardest time with school, because they did not have the facilities or training on how to deal with a child with her type of autism, or with dyslexia which she also has. But her mother and a few teachers succeeded in helping her to graduate high school and get into college.

Isn't autism alot like apathy? People just don't respond to the world around them. I think it's a dreamlike state where the person adapts to changes, mentally rather than taking physical action. The mind has a tremendous ability to channel thoughts, feeling and pain.
A person's defensive and coping mechanisms are genetically determined. Biological thresholds are established at a very early stage of life. Likely this condition is tripped during the in vitro stage as opposed to the condition known as apathy, which kicks in about the time people get the right to vote.
Some people who have autism have tremendous mental capabilities but people with apathy just get dumber and dumber.

All 3 of you are right! The funny thing about Autism/ Asperger's disorders are all a neurologist disorder that cannot be repaired regardless of what you do. Schools refuse to help and the outside world condems them for life as retards, as which they are not. Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) have very high IQ's, but the have severe critical thinking problems as one of their Sensory Integration disorders.
We will take my daughter for instance, MMinnoe knows what is going on with her. Here 3 years ago she was diagnosed with Asperger's, OCD, and severe ICD. For the ones that don't know like I didn't Impulsive Control Disorder (ICD) is a complication of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She has had several test run and all test has come back proving what she has, but now since we cannot give her meds her Asperger's has went to full blown Autsim with Asperger symptoms. Asperger children are very loving, Autism children want to be left alone. She is both, everyday of the week. My daughter also has a femor birth defect along with Superventricular Tachycardia as which could be inherited and a complication of the ASD. Most of these children will stay on track until the hit about 2 then start regressing back with simple everyday things like talking, walking, etc. The only test that we haven't done is a genetics test to find out if it is an environmental or genetic on her part. Like I told my ex I really don't care, the point is she has it and we have to help her. These children are extremely smart they just don't know how to put it into perspective as to every day life for living. They are also extremely emotional and thinks no one likes them regardless of what you do.
I have fought with 2 school districts to help her and neither want to help, they think it looks bad for their schools, you know what looks worse are state actions and lawsuits for this kind of thing. They also have what they call a sixth sense of the surrounding world as they know it, this is where the apathy or the seeing ghost as they put it comes into play. Most Autistic children have more than just your normal stage of imaginary friends. They actually live in this imaginary world with their friend and brings it to life, some researchers have stated some of your psychics may have a form of ASD. Whether that is true, no clue. I do know my daughter has come up to me and claims to hear footsteps in our house and that there is some guy standing at the edge of her bed everynight before she goes to bed, have I seen him NO.
