Today I was told the Independence School District will have a special board meeting at Bingham Middle School.  This tuesday at 8:00 The special meeting will be the approval of the agreements for the TIF project with Dave Edwards Group of Ceah Realty. This sounds like a good meeting to make. Do we know what ISD is doing with this project??? 

Mr. City Manager you once told me that I was destroying my business district because I keep us in the media. You asked me whats in it for me?  Why do I keep going to the media? I told you then with the acting Police Chief at your side "Because we need help we are being taken over by Gangs and Crime. Many people do not even call the Police." The only thing you said was "I could be home with my kids tucking them in bed." As I blog you today in my hot little shop that I work 7 days a week in.

 Can someone tell us about the robbery at the Caseys Store at 1110 23rd Street? We know they have cameras. Why was it not on the news??? Please tell me I just missed it. Thanks blogers. One more thing at 2322 S Claremont Ave I was told we had people who broke in and stayed with a cat that made a mess. Then a few homes down at 2326 Claremont Avenue someone broke in the basement. I was told no one called the Police. We don't want to talk about crime. We don't want to take time to call the Police. Sooooooo folks this is what we have. We have crime.

 What is wrong with Our City??? I talked to the Moms and Dads at the park. I was told it has been up for a long long time. Mr. City Manager we had the East Side Gang take one life in one of our parks already. We need your help. Please Help!!!

 The Assistant Jackson County Prosecutor Staci Stancell said "The most compelling thing about this case is the fact that he (Wilfredo J. Pujos Jr.) never stopped." Nothing that he was running from that night compares to what he did to Chris Cooper. It was senseless and criminal." I have to say we have many compelling things about this case. We as a City need to make sure we are doing all we can to protect our streets but I have to say I have been outside when a Police car has taken my breath away with their wind from their car and the noise.

I only wish that we had a reason to commend Dave Edwards of CEAH Realty, Tom Lesnak of the Independence Council for Economic Development and Superintendent Jim Hinson of the Independence School District like Warren Adams-Leavitt the executive director of the North West Communities Development Corporation in Independence did on the Opinion page April 16th. The problem is we live in the area of The Truman Corridor.

What a great story Jeff Quibell did about Blue Springs on the Opinion page today. Our police deserve the active involvement of our elected leaders too. The Citizens Academy is a great way to show support, improve communication and increase understanding of the departments needs in the future. At Mayor Ross urging most of the Blue Springs City Council members along with his wife they have participated in the Police Citizen Academy. What a great idea Mayor Ross. What would be neat is if all parties in the system would join in.

With a heavy heart I seen the story on the frount page today. Four plead not guilty to Benton Park shooting. This young man was a good man. He was only 19 years old. At the last Town Hall Meeting we seen a mother stand up and talk to a room full of people about this young man. She cried as she told how this young man went to camp each summer. She told how much her own son thought of Jeffery Johnson and how this year Jeffery Johnson was going to be one of the camp leaders with her son. Every mother in the room cried along with many men with soft hearts.

 Gregg can have her level of confidence of being successful is high but we did not celebrate last night. Many of us question the Independence School Districts $5.5 million redevelopment of IRHC. We have seen crime grow around this IRHC. Centerpoint Hospital has left us in a mess thanks to our city officials. The place has looked like a war zone. All we have been told is to stay off their property. All I have to say to them is clean your mess up because we do not want to look at it. We do not trust you we have seen what you have done to our neiborhood.

Easter Sunday I woke up to check on my shop. On my way to the shop I seen the same Gang Language they sprayed all over my the side of my building. This time it was on two of the stop signs and also the railroad sign at 20th and Scott. This Gang Language has been over by my friend Charlie's Fleet Maintenance at 1213 W Hayward. Charlie takes care of our cars and truck. If you drive in the alley across from Charlie's you will see this same Gang Language all over the back of a garage.

Today started with a police report at my shop. We had three type of Gang Language on our building. If you live and work around here you have to see it. We will have it off today because my husband and I see it as a life and death issue. We are in a city that allow and permit Gangs to have FREE REIN OVER US. I know we are on our own and so is our police department. How much more can our city ignore??? Our cities ignorance on Gangs is hurting more than words could ever say. It's like a sickness that takes over the innocent. It has hit us hard with no help in sight.

My neighborhood the Truman Corridor will not get any public hearings on just what we are looking at in regards to the Old Independence  Regional Hospital. First our people are told we will have an Urgent Care Trauma Center. It now looks like we were lied to. Our city negotiated this bad deal for the people of Western Independence. They handed it over to the Edwards group where they took our hospital building off the market for the last two years or so. Taking it off the market made it impossible for anyone to open up an Urgent Care Trauma Center.

Did any of you see the news last night??? If you missed it you would have seen a young lady tackeled to the floor by a criminal in the store that she works in. He just ran in the door and tossed her around like a rag doll. He made her give him all the $$$ in the store. The true "Tragedy" is this did not just happen. We have to many foolish people who want to cover up the crime problems we face. The store got a great videotape of the tragedy. I have to ask if that was the store owners daughter would he have sat on the videotape this long???
