Well well the news keeps growing just like the weeds do around the Mayors Billboard. Now we know that someone tore down the billboard that was put up by the electricians who wanted to do "The City Managers Little Ice Castle." Most of us know the city never wants to support our little or big business's. The City Manager Robert Heacock, Mayor Don Reimal and all of the City Council has made it clear to all of us. Only Robert Heacocks friends matters. This blog is to let all of Independence know many of us are tired of business as usual.

The best things in life are free. You paid for at least 2 big billboards to tell us you have no faith in Mayor Reimal. I have to say I feel the same way. I have even blogged about why. We need a Mayor that is strong. One that will stand firm in the storms that face our city. One that has more than just good intentions. One that truly wants to make a difference for the people of Indepencence. In my opinion one of the greatest problems we face as a city is crime. We need a Mayor that will help make public safety our number one priority.

Bloggers have you ever had a day that you just said to yourself WOW I see hope. I seen a huge part of many problems not only being removed but being addressed and talked about on the streets of my side of town. Before I went to work yesterday I made what I call my rounds.Much to my surprise I found 24th streets Stop signs all restored from the Slime of Graffiti. As my eyes seen this Gift from the City they closed and Thanked God for helping my side of town feel "Hope." Then to top off that on my way back home I made my rounds again to find another surprise and Gift from the City.

Please tell me that I am wrong. The man and women robbers who hit the Casey Store may have hit a Walgreens and we have not seen it on the news??? More alarming is the bomb threat I was told about. They tell me it took the police over an hour to get to because they were working a suicide??? This was the Encore Staffing on Little Blue Parkway. We need answers now this is crazy. We need to talk about crime we need to protect and educate the public. Why do we not do this??? Do we not care about our people??? 

 Bloggers I just got back from what always feels like the Monday Night Fights. The only thing good that came from going and talking tonight is that now they want to hear from Steve Cook. I don't think they want to hear from him he knows we need help. He knows this problem is huge. Please know I have been told over and over this is not a Police Problem or a School Problem. Our Officials have made it clear that we are all on our own with this Gang Problem they will not address. It's cause of their fear to address it we have a Full Blown Mess.

 Yes this is true. I have worked almost a year on this slide show of Gang Problems. One of my dear friends put it together for me. When I spoke to Jane Pickett Sharon the City Clerk I was told I could not show it. I then called Jim Schultz Councilman at large he told me the same. When I asked him if the Police Chief could do it for me he said it just can't be done. After that I drove to the Exaimner to hand deliver the slide show on CD. Next stop was my friends at Foundry Equipment by Gaylord. They have been hit hard by all of this.

HOMICIDES 187 all done in black spray paint is all over the back of Spring Branch Gardens. You can find them on Truman Road inbetween South Ann Street and Powahant Dr. You can also see it all over the Katco Rubber Supply Co. on the side along with having it all over the back of their main sign. If you drive to Alexander Road you will find it up and down the city light pole along with having it all over Victorian Estates main signs. Mayor Don Reimal and Mr City Manager Robert Heacock we have a huge problem. I call it a gang problem and you need to address this publicly.

I spend all day telling people to call 911 when you see crimes but people are still not calling. After I did the blog before this one we were on our way home when my husband told me the owner of the Hair Salon in our shop-ping center seen and had eyewitness to a Tan Chevy extended truck behind two cars firing bullets up in the air. The truck then jumped the curb drove over the grass poped into my parking lot in the middle of our shopping center and drove out on to Sterling. When I was told no one called the police I went in meltdown. I called the Salon owner to see what they saw.

Today was neighborhood clean up. My husband hauled truck load after truck load to the Free dumpsters the city provided. We cut a tree away so we could see down Walnut Street. We were able to help our neighbors and friends. It was fun It made so many people happy along with helping restoring hope to our neighborhood. It was a day loaded with Kodak moments. Everytime I took a picture I was asked are you going to put me in the paper? I Loved it!!! Then at the close of my day I stoped and talked to some people at 15th Street and Scott. The lady was planting a bunch of beautiful flowers.

Bloggers we all know safety has a price. How do you feel about adding a tax to add police officers to Independence??? Please take your time truly think about this.I will blog on this in the morning. Today has been a long one. Our City needs our help so very much. More than anything we need to open up all the lines of communications.  April is coming to a close in honoring all the tiny victims of child abuse. The forgotten victims of the war against child abuse are many times innocent wards of the state. They are yanked from their homes and placed in state coustody. Every year, hundreds of children die but thousands more are placed in child protection services. While child abuse is serious, our solutions are hurting the very children they were designed to help. Richard Wexler, a reporter, producer and news editor in Albany, N.Y. says it best. "In the name of child protection, children have been beaten.

Mr David Edwards you are some salesman. You and your friends. You charmed our school district into 90,000 square feet. Then you go on record telling The Examiner that our school district expressed an interest in using the space for classrooms or administrative purposes but no specific uses have been determined. Independence let me tell you I am not charmed. Mr Edwards you did try and make an effort to get rid of your Gang Language on your little "Dream Incubator". The Gang Language went up Easter morning and did not come down till April 29th.

 This Saturday May 2nd,from 9:30 Am to 1:30 PM at  the Community of Christ Auditorium, 1101 W. Walnut. Your child will get a free bike tune-up, inspections, and challenge courses geared at keeping kids safe while riding. You also can get a child identification kits at no charge. You can tour a fire truck. You will see the K-9 unit. You will see the KC Police Helicopter. You may even get a Free bicycle helmet, courtesy of the American Legion Post 21 Auxiliary.

 On this rainy day I have been walking The Independence Crime Task Force flyers. When I walk people love to talk to me. This walk was very troubling. I walked the Rotary Park area. One friend of mine came out to tell me two young men just came in her frount door at around 1:30 AM Saturday. It was not long after that I was told we had a shooting of a young man and that it was in fact Gang Realated at around 12:00  AM Saturday. I feel we should be told what happens in our city. We have children all around this park. We have three schools that set on the hill above this park.
