Yes This Is Great News. It sure was great to hear you got the guy who treated the employe at 7-Eleven like a Little Rag Doll. We are tired of these people just as we are sure you are too. Today I want to praise you for this job well done. To bad I never read a story on this. This story brings  HOPE, Trust, Support and Respect to The Police Department to all that I have told. The other suspects from the Kiddie Brigade on the bike sure sound like the MK little gang bangers. This is why we need a web site that all of us can go to and see the suspects.

Today I walked my flyers for The Crime Task Force Meeting this Tuesday at Trails West Library. When I walked into Valero on 23rd I saw a look that I have become all to familar with. He had been a crime victim once again. He had a glass door broken. He will have to pay around $600.00 to replace it. He was so shaken to the core of his soul that I could feel it. His alarm went off a little after 2:00 AM. It took the police much to long to have done anything. He was very upset to think that it took them so long. I told him what I tell every business owner.

This is the day I will make my call to tell Mc Donalds how I think they are doing at 1.800.244.6227 or I may also www.mcdonalds.com but much more important I will call the IPD GRAFFITI Hot Line at 325-7824. We are under siege with Gang Activity Our Children Need Us To Be Educated On This. Learn The Facts. This is more of an Emergency than any Emergency Ordinance directing The City Manager to execute for and on behalf of the City. Our Business District is under attack but much more important Our "Children Are Under Attack." Under this leadership our people have given up.

To solve a problem you have to identify the problem. Then after you identify the problem YOU  Need To Solve The Problem As A Team And Take Steps Together To Address The Problem. I do my job and make reports about crime. The Police show up and do their job in taking all of my reports. After that it's like the reports go to Never Never Land. Our Gang Problems will not go away being IGORNED because an ignored problem does not solve itself or go away why should it.  It is time to do your job for all our children. We as Tax payers should demand it.

If we would make Public Safty Our Number 1 Priority We Would Not Have So Much Disorder In Our Parks. 

Saturday as I was at a celebration for a great nephews graduation across town. My husband was making a police report for the first time at our shop. Most of the Independence Police Department knows our neighbors. This time we had around 8 young men at war with one another. One had a wrench in his hand. All were making ears hurt!!! I have to say I am glad my husband went out to the parking lot to try and break the fight up. He also told them to get the H--- out of our parking lot but what makes me more happy is he called 911. This was not just a little fight.

Well let us see here. David Edwards what is your definition of a Sorehead. You may think the overall community has supported your project in my neighborhood but we never got to vote on that now did we??? Do you think people are Soreheads who ask questions? Is a person a Sorehead that has to threaten a press conference to get Gang Graffiti taken off this project??? Is a person a Sorehead who has to call Andrew Warlen Code Compliance Mamager for help to clean this eye sore up of all the broken windows and mess???

What would have happened if Judge Michael Manners would have been the owner of Celsius Tannery or if someone in his family had owned it??? The big question is how much did these two robberies cost Jackson County??? What was the cost of the officers time and all with the Independence Police Department that worked on this case???  What was the cost of the District  Attorneys work. What is the cost of the probation officer and did he even get probation???

My side of town has been under attack for some time now but a spirit of hope is growing. For a year load of work I have uncovered a lifetime of stories. Some good some bad. Today let me give you a good one. Sure 7- Eleven was robbed with guns. Instead of cash the suspects swiped two cartons of cigarettes worth $74.98. When the employee told the suspect the gun was fake the robber fled the store. The other suspect was holding a real one at the door. They took off on their bicycle.

Last week I spoke to you in your office. I was with a young couple who had been attacked by another resident. After they left I told you that I not only needed your help but that I would be willing to help you clean up what I see as a rats nest on your property. You said you knew about it and you would take care of it. When I went back to check on it you had not. I then called you and told you that if you leave it I would blog about it. This is a blog that comes as a request to The Examiner to do a story on this. It should not be a crime to be poor.

This is not pick on Tom Dailey Day. This is God Please Help Us and give our Police Chief Tom Dailey the wisdom to know how to help. I made part of my rounds yesterday and today only to find out one of us was rodded at gun point two times in the same day. That was the top story. I have done my homework. I know we are Under Sieged. I don't have all the answers or solutions but this. I know the City of Independence better be addressing this soon or we will be seeing a lot of Going Out Of Business Sales. All of us have a job to do and we have precious little to do it with.

Mr City Manager, Mayor, and Council along with Our Police Chief We Are Under Sieged. When you look it up in Webster's Dictionary you read "persistent attack." When your friends keep getting attacked time after time you understand fast what it's like to be under sieged. Today I got a call from my friend who has been under sieged in his business by crime. He first called his fiancee, his father and then me. After that he called 911. Last year I asked the City Manager for his help because my friend told me then he felt like we had no police protection and that we needed help.

Only a change in heart will give us true public safety. Of course safety has a price. Our city has made it clear to our people and our police department that they have not been willing to budget for it. To have the same number of patrol cars for over 20 years has provided that fact to me. Public Safety takes much more than just money. It needs to be more than just a job. It needs to be away of life.
