Sugar Creek Is Smelly???

Can anyone tell us about the smell from Sugar Creek??? I have been told it's because they hit soiled soil. We have to have more of a story. What did they dig up that could smell that intense to make people feel sick???

Someone took the link out that took us to The Kansas City Star and all of their bloggers on this story.

Elsia, go to the bottom of the replys for the link to kc star.  It is still there.

Thanks!!! That is a story!!!   xox

Elisa, in the 1980's I worked for a company and everyone was getting sick, mysterious illness, come to find out it was a new building and was built over a dump site.  The company moved to anyother building.  I just remembered that and want to share.

You never know what life holds. Most people think things like that would never happen to them. That is why we need to all treasure what we have. Thanks for your story.   xox

ELISA, Were you on TV last night around 10:00.    What did they find out?  Were you in Sugar Creek area?

Yes and the story we are told smells too. I was told by people that the smell made some sick and that it carried over to the Independence center. The official story is that it was just a bunch of dead trees and vegetation that had been covered up for years. KC TV 5 did what they could and I feel they too think the story Stinks. I had people calling me to blog about it. I have talked to people who lived by Standard Oil. These companies put money ahead of public safety. The almighty dollar is far greater to them then The Almighty God. The Erin Brockovich story how she brought a small town to it's feet and a huge company to it's knees is a hard act to follow even for Erin Brockovich like in Cameron. I was called to first blog about it. When I got off work I was called to meet with KC TV 5. I asked them do you not have someone else that you have talked to that you can interview. Betsy Webster said they wanted me to speak for them. I was happy to do so. The City of Sugar Creek has seen great injustice from Standard Oil Co. Sure millions and millions got paid out to cover up and shut people up but really what kind of money can you put on your spouse, child or parents head. Now instead of letting what may look like a dead dog lay. The City of Sugar Creek digs around it's dead dog grave and wants to build a Sugar Land. I say Good Luck and May God Bless and Protect the children and people of Sugar Creek because putting light on darkness is a hard thing to do, just ask Erin Brockovich. Truth is hard to dig out. What is the truth? Only Standard Oil and The Almighty may know but in the end all dogs have their day. Sometimes those days last an eternity. Money will not help them then. All of us have consequence's no matter how big and powerful we are that is just a fact of life and death. Thanks for your blog and Thanks to KC TV 5 who did a great story because of The Bloggers and The Bloggers Friends. Blog On!!!   xox

All of U can dig where ever U want, but if U look at my first post about ARMCO Steel... This spot has been stinkin since the 40's when Steel was king here....
When the wind and rain change the smell changes, the smell is sulfur based... has be for 70 years....

........we used to go down 24 highway to church.....in the 60's ......we would pass "Sugar Creek" and Standard Oil......it always smelled.......the a little farther down 24 was  "Armco Steel"........I really don't know how the residents coped............Sulfur is recovered from natural gas, coal, crude oil, and other sources, e.g., the flue dusts and gases from the refining of metal sulfide ores........per Wikipedia........

Armco steel and Standard Oil out of Sugar Creek?  Are they not different locations and products?

Elisa,  Will Channel 5, do a follow-up on this?  With an investigative angle?  Elisa would you mind sharing your last name and do you have an e- mail address.

..........dead trees and vegetation?............RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT..........they must think we have a huge "S" tattoed on our foreheads.........there's a smell alright.......and I think it's coming not from "compost"......but rather from "Bull Residual"..........

eldoggg, you are right on the money!

I am out of town, but wanted to check in.  Elisa you may very well be the next Erin Brockovich! if it were rotting trees where was that at.  Did you verify this.  What wastes are still buried there.

I am not Erin Brockovich I am Elisa Breitenbach with the Independence Crime Task Force. I hate injustice and many people know that. I am not part of the Independence Police Department but I support them and respect them. We hold meetings the 4th Tuesday of each month at Trails West Library at 11401 East 23rd Street 6:00-7:30. We have been meeting for over a year now.
The people in Sugar Creek know the fear of sickness that Standard Oil spread. Many people came down with the same form of Leukemia. They were given money and told never to tell how much they received. I don't blame any of these people. The Truth is known that they were poisoned by Standard Oil. Now years after the fact the city of Sugar Creek at 24 Highway and Sterling is digging up land for a shopping center and out of the ground comes a smell that the people of Sugar Creek Fear.
KCTV 5 maybe the only ones big enough to follow with a story. I would ask if anyone with more information and a brave heart to call them at Investigative Tip Hotline at 818.576-7555 or investigate@kctv5.com. The Examiner takes down any blogs that gives out personal address or phone numbers. They have with me before. I am in the phone book.
People are angry and hurt about the story the city is giving about the smell. This is a public safety issue we need more information on as bloggers we need to get the word out and help KCTV 5 with this story. Thanks for your blog.   xox

.......I thought you were going to see fireworks at the Mormon Center.......change of plans?........

eldoggg

I will be there in time, it starts about 9:00 to 9:20 right?

......according to what was played on the news last night..........
