Jeff Fox's Story On COMBAT

With the state of Missouri leading the nation in meth bust. With 4.7 percent of Missouri high school seniors one of every 21 telling they have tried meth at least once. (that came from a federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey.) The voters of Jackson County need to have Jeff Fox's stories from todays Examiner about COMBAT in their hands and heart. Say No to Meth that breeds crime, destroys families and communities. Say yes to prevention and treatment. Say yes to Protecting Communities and Healing Families with voting YES for COMBAT. Jeff Fox Great Job!!!   xox

COMBAT is probably one of the most successful programs that our inept Jackson County government has ever come up with. I'll be voting YES on renewal.
COMBAT does a great job with enforcement and addiction recovery and those dollars are not only needed, but necessary.

I can name 2 boys that were positively influenced  by the DARE officers funded by the COMBAT Tax  that talk to middle school students.  Joey Liccar and Vinnie Liccar (my 2 sons now in college).
 
This had a very profound impact on them.   I remember my wife and I discussing with them the DARE presentation at the time especially the subject of peer pressure.
 
They asked me how it was when I was a teenager and I told them I remember going to parties and the Stoners would be passed out by 9:00 and figured that wasn't my idea of a good time. I had until Midnight to stay out on Saturday night, who wants to sleep?  Plus, the passed out guys made for less competition when trying to pick up a chick at the party.
 
Both boys are  substance free including alcohol.  
 
Combat is a good program I beleive should continue to be supported.

.......are you sure we can afford the sales tax  for this program?...............those pennies add up Elisa...........remember?.............where do you stand on the school bond thing for Independence?...............hopefully since you like kids ,  that's a "yes" from you............that should be a "given " like law enforcement  ,  wouldn't you say?.......but it's not.................so we need new schools and they want  the ciitzens to "annie up" for it once again........they want money to do it.....imagine that.........they're coming to the citizens again for money............what do you think about THAT?...........just curious..............

Yep!  Hit-up the eldoggg!  I hear he's got a stash in his mattress.
 
Who ELSE is the government suppossed to "hit up" INSTEAD OF the people?   It's not like they actually GENERATE revenue on their own (unless you count Independence Power & LIght...... oh, and Obama taking over GM.... hmmm.... I'm sure THAT will generate a profit <grin!>).
 
Too bad government doesn't get paid based on how much VALUE they actually create for their people.  Oh, wait, why, that's what a percentage-based tax (sales or income) is suppossed to do, isn't it?   If the people make more money, then the government gets more.   Hmmm.... you'd think that would be an incentive to governments to create conditions that will encourage businesses to grow and to make more money?    But instead, it seems like government just looks to come up with NEW ways to take more of what you're making, while doing stupid things to DISCOURAGE business growth.
 
10% unemployment and they're announcing that the recession is over.   Sheesh.

........good morning Robo........lol..........I figured I'd give the ole bus a shot of ether this morning to get it "fired up"..............remember when we had to do that back in the day?............a friend of mine caught his car engine on fire that way in a bowling alley parking lot.............then he tried to put it out by covering it with a blanket...........ROFLMDAO................a synthetic blanket............the flames were shooting up 4 feet high.............and NO , we we're smoking anything.................other than his car............... ha ha ha ha ha............and the funny thing is ..............his NAME was W.T. Bowlin................and the only thing he'd ever been arrested for was stealing a watermelon...............oh Lord............he was a part time minister ...........part time ladies man............who was married................his wife tried to pour boiling water on him one night when he came home late..........he turned the couch over and hid under it................he was a great salesman though.............. ha ha ha................

From what I heard we have already been paying for this, this is just to keep it going that is all!  I'm all for it!

......I'm aware of all that............I support it too........read between the lines d'lady.......I was merely making a point using E's OWN words....what she says about any other cause she doesn't feel is necessary..................I was making a point about how the IPD sales tax was vehemently opposed by her ..................now they want money for schools that should be a "right" as well.........a "provision by the city" as I heard so many say about law enforcement................and the fact that we have already been paying for COMBAT really is irrelevant as our financial situation has changed ...........it just so happens that I DO support the tax AND COMBAT.............I was merely making a point............
