So it turns out there’s a reason the president hasn’t wrapped up health care or Iraq, figured out Afghanistan, closed Guantanamo, or found anybody a job. He’s been out raising money.
He’s been schmoozing, and golfing, and kissing @ss
The Wall Street Journal has outlined in quite excruciating detail just how the president has actually been spending a significant amount of his time and attention. In nine months he’s done 26 fundraisers. Three a month.
George Bush, by this point in his presidency, had, according to the Journal, only done six. The Journal says Obama’s hyper-fundraising is because of McCain-Feingold, which limits soft money contributions. Obama has got to do more to raise more. George Bush raised $48 million with his six fundraisers; Obama, so far, has only raised $21 million.
He’s not just been on his belly, but on his belly for a relative pittance.
It’s important to be clear on just exactly what this operation is: The president of the United States is slavishly stroking rich guys. He’s listening to their dumbass (and dull) opinions, he’s laughing at their lame jokes, he’s cultivating their secret ambitions.
He’s becoming their friend.
It’s a bit of Stockholm syndrome. He’s their prisoner—they can do with him what they will. He is dependent on them for his existence. Nothing less. Ipso facto, he comes, quite naturally, to enjoy them, to appreciate them, to see them, these men with his future in their hands, as really, really charming and brilliant guys.
This is what ruined Bill Clinton. He became an entertainer for the rich. Their buddy.
Part of the appeal of Barack Obama has been that it was hard to imagine him in this role. The skinny black guy would not fit in with these over-stuffed suits. His aloofness would not allow him to suck up. And he had the Internet: With all that money pouring in he didn’t need the fat cats.
But 26 fundraisers later he’s undoubtedly transformed himself into a true crony of the liberal rich. At this rate, he’ll do nearly a 140 in his first term; and he’ll have to double that to match George Bush’s take.
I wonder if you can actually recover from this? If it doesn’t necessarily make you into a desperate man and a profound cynic? At some level, you must either accept the fact that you’re dirty, or, in the interest of denial, come to believe that these guys are really your brothers.
You lose your sense of pride and sense of self when you beg people for money. Not just because they want something and will surely get something for what they give you. But because you have to convince yourself that that’s not the case.
Still, you’re not a whore. Worse: You actually fall in love with these men.

My youngest son reports that on Halloween night he played Obama. He took candy from those who had the most and redistributed it to those who had less.

GOOD ONE CIVIL !!!......I was going to say Obama dressed up and pretended to be a president for Halloween..................ROFLMDAO.............if I hear one more blogger apologize or take note that they're "off topic" I'm going to lose it............I started using sarcasm in this matter a couple weeks ago by mentioning it a lot.........it seems to be like malaria ...........I hear it several times a day now................WHO CARES ?.............. ha ha ha ha................it's a general guideline that is flawed in it's execution because when one blogger replies to another blogger , the original post get's diluted or sidelined.....not always permamently...............sometimes there is humor.............why would we want to squash participation ,humor or a person's fond memories to preserve the ABSOLUTE purity of a blog header?................it's nazi like...........how Hitler wanted to preserve the Aryan race................ ha ha ha...........I mainly hear this "off topic" observation from ONE blogger.........and usually when he doesn't like what I say.............ROFL........so I started making fun of the "off topic" thing.......I pointed it out to Ginger one day and she "set me straight" , laughing at me.......I heard Pete say it two days ago , I heard d'lady say it several times lately......I hear Marshall Shrout making "tongue in cheek" references to it..........of course I hear the "off topic" moderator (whose name shall remain anonymous) mention it a hundred times a week...........and NOW?..........I hear civil mentioning it...............AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....................................I realize now that I have expressed disdain for this antiquated "blog guideline" , that some may use it as a torture tool........I would only like to remind them what their position IS on torture.......................and THIS?.................is my "OFF TOPIC " RANT................ROFLMDAO..............................

Hey dwood, have you ever stopped and really thought about the fact that everyone has ADD/ADHD in some form..... It just matters how bad it is before it is diagnosed! We area all guilty of it!
We might all have ADD, but some people's ADD is on purpose as in I don't want to do this right now and some people's ADD they can't help as in I'm doing this I'm doing this I'm doin oooooh look at the shinies.
That is true.... I was just making a point that was all....... I cannot say much b/c I have been told that I have ADD/ADHD, but it is all in how you look at it.... I also have been told I have OCD and I will agree with them on that one.... I will say I do catch myself going off the attention span to something else quite frequently since I have been home more.......... No offense to your kids, just wanted to state that.

I have one son with ADHD, my wife and her son have ADD. They are all on medication. I can't tell you how many times I've come home to the stove being on, the front door open, the garage door open, the back door open, the shower running, and all of this at 2 in the morning. Things get constantly lost at my house and all 3 of them get tired of me asking where is the last place you saw it. At the high school you have to wear name badges and you can pick up additional name badges if you lose one. Last year my son lost 9 of them. This year between the 2 of them, we're already up to 6 maybe 7 of them. We've had coats lost, backpacks lost, don't get me going about homework assignments. Sometimes the lawn gets mowed in an hour, sometimes the lawn take 6 hours over the course of 3 days. Dishes might get done that day and they might not. I've had a kid at the bus stop in 0 degree weather with no coat and I've had a kid at the bus stop in 80 degree weather with a hoodie zipped up and the hood on.
Medication has helped a lot of that, but everyday is still like a brand new day. And everyday I have to ask the 2 kids if they've taken their medication even though I have it sitting at eye level so they have to see it when they're geting ready for school. It definitely keeps stuff hopping around here.
On the plus side, she hardly ever remember a movie so when we go to pick one out, I can tell her we've already seen one that I don't want to see and I'll tell her it sucks or if I want to see one again I can tell her we haven't seen it yet. Her medication has made it so she can OCD on stuff so for example the pumpkin she carved this year took about 6 hours to do and looked awesome. Whatever projects she can get started on come out better than we could have imagined.
Eldoggg's posts remind me of when my wife and I first started dating. We sent a lot of emails back and forth. It took me awhile to try to figure out what she was saying because she was all over the place, she didn't use the ........that Doggg does, but her spelling is horrid and that took me awhile to figure out as well. Everything's good now though.
DWOOD87 ........this is on topic for the conversation........off topic for the blog header if someone is "anal retentive"........feel free on my blog headers to say what you want............whatever form of ADD / ADHD I have , if I really have it at all , contains none of the things you describe.........I had enough other symtoms to qualify , according to my ex wife and her expert "Web M.D." analysis.....we did go over symptoms on a checklist , so I don't know..........what you described DOES perfectly describe my mother to a tee........she's never been able to coordinate a meal properly with more than one or two items......putting things on the stove and forgetting them is her specialty......lol........while I am a perfect cook with great attention to multitasking..........I'm on no medication......I never leave things on , running , and I rarley lose anything ......my mother CONSTANTLY lost everything her entire life...........I complete what I start..............I did well in school , while stoned for my junior and senior year.........what I DO have is a short attention span.........it used to be hard for me to sit through one sales meeting for 30 - Ok, I'm going to reply to this in several different parts.
I've been thinking about this for a couple of days, you've mentioned that you played music and you went to the Conservatory, what instrument and what kind of music do you play?
My wife did quite the drugs when she was in high school as well and she was told by her doctor that people with ADD have a tendency to do that so that they feel "normal". She also has problems sitting through those meetings. She has them once a day. She just writes lots and lots and lots of notes. I offered to get her a laptop, but she said it wasn't the same thing so maybe her note taking and your leg twitching is the same thing.
I don't know about everybody else as far as understanding what you're saying, I don't have a hard time understanding it. I think about what I'm saying and I try to type it in some semblance of an order. You do a sort of free conscience typing and switch gears and stops and starts. I don't know how to explain my thinking, it doesn't take me a minute to switch gears into something else, but like I said, I like having some semblance of order so that if you wanted to reply to this paragraph, it's not a problem and everybody knows which section you're replying to.
You read my post about my family so my life is full of anarchy. A little more isn't going to make me go cry in the corner somewhere :)
Oh and BTW, I'm sure I said the lizard comment, the suppository comment sounds somewhat familiar, but I couldn't find any comment that I made about the courts and the Examiner.
......trumpet..........primarily blues ,rock and soul right now........we're in the process of working up a blues band.....between the four of us we have about 138 years of music experience........we want to be really cohesive when we hit the club scene.........two of the guys have played in club venues already for 3 or 4 decades.......one in Chicago , the other here locally............... I played gospel on and off from 1970 - 2003..........I played jazz, pop , and classical in college.........classical for a year in the "Lee's Summit Symphony".........I played in a "Big Band" with a bunch of music teachers for a year in the 90's......mostly swing and dance music from Glen Miller , Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington and that sort of thing.........."it don't mean a thing if it ain't go that swing"...........ROFLMDAO............
.........on an unrelated topic...........I'm quite sure that my recreational activites contributed to my short attention span in later years........I think my brain chemicals are skewered .....(how's that for giving you ammo?).......as for the anarchy you live with I can sympathize with you..........I grew up with it..........I say this in love , but ANY activity that my mother comes into contact with , will be in a COMPLETE state of chaos within a short time.........my in laws used to freak out on it..........God love her..........for instance ?.........forgetting the dog's bottled water when she came to visit for T-Day dinner.....and just before everyone is getting ready to be seated for dinner , she has a melt down over it , telling my father he will have to go out and buy some "pure water" for her dog , which she has of course brought with her to dinner.......because he "can't be left alone " for a few hours..........then confusion ensues over where the closest place to go might be , and if they will have the "right kind" of bottled water..........lol..........of course she brought the dog's sanitized dishes so he wouldn't have to eat out of anything at MY house............ADD / OCD / Germaphobe..............meanwhile the "highbrow" in-laws , who are all engineers , are glancing at each other and raising their eyebrows.............ROFLMDAO.............this is a mild example..........she customarilly gives store clerks a nervous breakdown while she decides four different ways to pay for 5 items........... ha ha ha..............or changes her mind as she's buying it......or forgets if it was on sale...............restaurants are a barrel of fun too with the folks..............every experience is as if they have never been in public before...............I love my folks , don't get me wrong........but what I'm trying to say is that I empathize with the "family anarchy"..............I grew up with it...........

Awesome about the music. My family has a bunch of musicians in it including myself. I played trombone in high school (hated it) played bass guitar in a couple of local bands around here but only played a club once. I have a son that plays viola and I have a son that plays bass. He's pretty awesome at it if I do say so myself. As a matter of fact, my grandpa used to play guitars in barn bands back during the 40's and that's how he met my grandmother. I have an uncle that's a professional musician that used to go around tuning people's pianos. He even tuned Liberace's piano when Liberace was in his neck of the woods. I love big band music, but I'm not keen on the slow songs so I like them bopping right along.
My wife said that she was always kind of the weird kid and the drugs made her fit in. I didn't know her till after the drugs so I wouldn't know either way. Your Mother sounds a lot like my wife. She doesn't throw fits if things aren't perfect, but for example, she will never leave the house once. She always leave the house 2 or 3 times because she forgets something. Or she goes to the store for milk and comes back with ice cream and no milk. If we're going through a drive thru, I'll let her know about 20 minutes beforehand so that she'll know what she wants to order when we get there or else it will be a fifteen minute ordeal waiting for her to order.
My memory is decent, I never lose my wallet and keys (sometimes my wife will drop my keys in her purse and go to work with them) can tell ya all sorts of articles I've read, but I won't remember your name to save my soul unless I've hung out with ya for a little bit.
You're probably both. Contrary to popular belief, I multi-task or my days would be 56 hours long.
.....well there may be hope for you yet............lol.........a family of musicians.......my dad played bass, electric , slide and mandolin.........grampa played banjo and mandolin..........QUITE WELL till he lose his middle finger to an angry bull on a rope..........then he only played good after that instead of great.............I snooped around the net and found TONS of my relatives in music..........good genes I guess..........sounds like your family has them...............
......I understand your wife's deal with meetings...I know as an F & I person she has tons of meetings.........I used to HATE the daily meetings........at one point I was both "Asst.Used Car Mgr . / Used Car Finance Mgr . in the 80's..............Ifrom 6 -7 I posted service RO's , from 7-8 I had a manager's meeting , from 8 - 9 I had the general sales meeting with managers & salesmen , then from 9 -10 I had individual meetings with my "team members".......then we could FINALLY start conducting some freakin business for the day..............ROFLMDAO.............
...the whole "leaving the house" multiple times is a description of my mom all her life...........it would drive me crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrazy..............your "grocery store" story is funny too , for years I said "why don't you make a list?"..........she would reply dryly...."I don't NEED a list , it's all up here".....ROFLMDAO..............my mom is a "hoarder " too................and I don't mean that in a slight way..............I mean that in a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG way...........as for drive through's?..........I made the mistake of riding with my folks for three hours a couple years ago to go to grandpa's funeral in Warsaw............and every trip at a "drive through" , or inside at a counter made me wish I was invisible................and I'm very tough to embarrass............I would tell clerks " I don't KNOW these people , they're just giving me a ride"........the difference between you and I dwood?...........I was born to mine and you married yours................lol............it keeps things interesting though........never a dull moment.........I've found that half of surviving is JUST knowing "what to expect"...........then when it happens you're prepared for it........

I didn't say you were talking about me, but it wouldn't have bothered me at all. I was just curious. I live with people with ADD and ADHD and your posts started to remind me of reading stuff by them and talking with them at times so I thought I would ask.
Fortunately for me, I don't obssess on stuff so I guess in your eyes I'm portraying somebody who does.

With the first lady dressed as a leopard, President and Michelle Obama handed out White House M&Ms, White House-shaped sugar cookies, and the aforementioned dessicated fruit.
A brass band in skeleton costumes pumped out gypsy music as makeup artists from a Chicago theater company painted faces and a Rhode Island farmer showed off his 1300-pound pumpkin, reports the Washington Post. Some 2,600 schoolkids chosen at random happily passed through the White House gates, but, professed one 9-year-old: "I'm not a fan of dried fruit."

Usually I just read all your discusions and arguments and watch the same few people repeat the same behavior day after day. But I had to answer this one. I hope eldoggg is just being his usual sarcastic self because I would hate to think there is any intelligent person left who actually believes the lies that President Obama is a Muslim, raised in the Middle East, not born in the USA. Agree or disagree with Obama, like him or dislike him, whatever. At least stop perpetuating the lies concocted during the campaign.

I don't read every day eldoggg. I look at the blogs that come in the weekly e-mail as the five most active blogs that week just to see if it's the same-old same-old stuff. If I had more time I might check out the less active blogs to see if they're any different. Having a Ramadan dinner at the White House is no different than the annual prayer breakfast or any of a number of religious-themed activities that have happened for years at the White House. Whoever is President is president of the entire country, not just the Christian parts. Yes, I've read all about the shooting at Fort Hood. That was a fanatic Muslim, not typical of the entire Muslim religion any more than any other mass shooter, killer, bomber is typical of his religion.

Which reminds me, did you get that shooter in Florida the other day? I think his last name is Rodriguez. However, the media didn't say what religion he was, but he definitely wasn't Muslim. They would have been all over it if he was. I guess you could put that under the religion unknown category.
........comparing the Ft Hood shooter to Rodriguez sounds like something you would say......if you CHOOSE to be ignorant as to what the differences are then "whistle on your way"........I know you love Islam and defend it gallantly.......I expected you to defend Islam in this case.......although they're calling the shooter a "hero" in the middle east.,...........and saying American Muslims should support his acts........as far as I know there are not separate Qurans for different Muslims........right?.......they have the SAME handbook?............................I don't put every shooter in the country in .........but since the guy in Ft Hood had SO many things in common with other terrorists , I put him in my "terrorist of the week blog"......we have Senators calling him a terrorist...we have Obama saying "let's not rush to judgement".........of course we can expect those kind of statements form Obummer and you...........Hasan had about 10 characteristics of other terrorists......he wasn't JUST a random shooter.......even his OWN comrades admit his "Muslim issues".........if it smells like a duck....and it quacks like a duck.......and it waddles like a duck?............it's a ...............DUCK........ ........I don't care HOW the media decides to "categorize " him.............watch the news for a while................he was a terrorist in OUR army............have you ever wondered why it is that the Muslims produce SOOOOOO many terrorists around the world?........................and don't tell me "it's not any more than any other religion"............if Islam is so harmless , and there "is no jihad" , then why do we have weekly attempts by Muslims to kill people?.........what is it about Islam that turns out so many killers?..........could it be "jihad?"................
