Last Friday night, my wife and I ended up at Zona Rosa.  We ate at the Mexican Restaurant there.  The food was good.
 
But my eyes about popped out of my head when I saw the bill....not because of the cost of the food.... but rather.... the 11% sales tax !!
 
Yikes!

OK, let me say up-front:    I'm a Christian, yet I like Halloween, because of how much I enjoyed getting into costume and trick-or-treating as a kid.   I see it as a unique opportunity for folks to express their creativity / imagination.  I like to show kids that even "stiff" adults can dress-up and have fun.  And I especially enjoy the creative home-made costumes that people come up with.

Our 32-inch tube-TV finally bit-the-dust two weeks ago... picture tube's out, from what I can tell.   We've bought a replacement, but now.... what to do with the old one?
 

I was just wondering if anybody here has kids who are selling those Entertainment 2010 coupon books and actually has them on-hand?
 
The only ads for them that I've seen posted at work were for:
 
a) Somebody wanting you to order them off of their website....and wait two weeks.
 
b) Somebody wanting you to pay them up-front....and then wait two weeks.
 
 

My wife wants us to take the grandkids (ages 3 and almost-5) to see it this weekend.   I'm hesitant, because I read quotes twice online this week, where somebody has said that it's rather scary and is "more adult" than one might thing...plus they say it's not really all that fun for kids.
 
But my wife says the movie reviewer on that CBS Sunday Morning show said it was excellent and was the most fun movie he's seen in a while.

I used to blindly believe in doing whatever doctors or "the medical community in general" tells you.  But I'm becoming skeptical.  First, I learned about that vaccine in the 70's that killed more people than the flu it was suppossed to protect you from.  Now this!

While shopping at Hy-Vee on 40 Highway at about 6 AM this morning, I decided "maybe I ought to stock up on some baking materials".   There had been a recipe for "Pumpkin Doodle Cookies" in the Sunday Star that I thought I might try out. 
 

It's a dragging, dragging Monday...and I could use some laughs.
 
Somebody around here just started "the ball rolling" with a bunch of Spaceballs quotes, to get us chuckling!   ("Ludicrous speed!")
