What do you think about all the Blue Springs Development

I live in Blue Springs and just wondered what everybody else thought of all of the development going on?

From retail to million dollar homes to multi-family housing...what do you all think?

Definition: Slang term for the growth of cities in an unplanned and often wasteful manner.

I say to myself. "Give me break." Heard it before." “More illogical urban development and sprawl.” Here in Independence, it's the Noland Road corridor. Cracked concrete slabs, overgrown vegetation, and promises of replacing the businesses that where demolished over five years ago. Oh, and how about that 70’s vintage vacant movie theater near the 40 & I-70 overpass?

I don't see the development in Blue Springs any different. Not to mention (most important to area sportsman) the increasing loss of whitetail deer habitat. Increased deer/vehicle collisions. Land developers, I have a bumper sticker I proudly display just for you!

DEER MANAGEMENT?
HARVEST A LAND DEVELOPER…..

Blue Springs has always been a part of my life. I love the city and overall I am pleased with the development. What is your opinion?

I agree with both of you. I'm glad that they are developing the area around Adams Dairy...it will be nice to have some shopping close by without having to deal with the nightmare that is 39th Street. Hopefully they will get Adams Dairy paved soon, it's like driving through Kansas City with all the potholes.

Also, I agree with the multi-family housing. I'm glad the city council is doing something about it.

Anybody eaten at Texas Roadhouse yet? If so, is it good?

You should be glad that the 39th street corridor is so busy. Three fourths of the businesses tax incentives go to the Blue Springs School District.

A lot of that area is Blue Springs School District so I don't have a problem with the money going to BSSD. I happen to live in Blue Springs and we have one of the best school districts in the state. I've heard many people say the tax incentives should stay in Independence, I don't disagree with that, but until the powers that be re-align the school districts it is what it is.

My 2 cents…
That’s the whole part of the ISD vs. KCSD battle that has made no sense…ISD goes after old run down schools with prob kids and cost the dist Millions…
When if they worked on realigning the BSSD lines so they could collect the revenue they generate they could both have great schools…
BSSD is one of the richest in the state of course they have great schools, teachers, gym’s, programs. Etc…
30 years ago when INDEP. Center was a cow pasture we gave BSSD money to get them started ,they were a wide spot in the road, now they are doin just fine and ISD should get the money Indep generates.…

I see from your profile that you have been registered less than 8 hours. Every one of your posts that I have seen so far has been negative. Could you give us an example of things you favor please? (besides hunting deer)

I favor many things in life. However, when I get in one of these blogs, I am ever more convinced there is a sector of America that is becoming more stupid all the time.

If you think " a sector of America" is becoming more stupid then please feel free to skip over the posts and post your own intelligent blogs.

It good with the exception of to much multi-family but the city council knows that to much multi-family can and is causing problems. The council is taking action in regard to much multi-family at this time.
