Obama - Wrong For America

A question keeps tugging at me, just who is Obama? Where has he been? What does he stand for? Should he be elected president, where is he likely to take this country? His record does not reveal where he stands, so we must go to his associates and supporters for answers.

One of his associates, and a supporter, is William Ayres, a 1960’s domestic terrorist who bombed the capitol, among other places. In 2001 Mr. Ayers stated he was not sorry he did that, he only wished he had done more.

Obama has proven ties to ACORN. His current campaign has given this left-wing group $800,000. (Obama now clams the funds were actually given to a subsidiary of ACORN for polling and major event planning.)

In the Illinois Senate he seldom took a stand on any issue counter to liberal left ideals, voting “present” rather than Aye or Nay. He introduced or backed so much legislation friendly to ACORN that he could have been known as the Senator From ACORN.

In the United States Senate he has consistently been in the top 20 most liberal senators and was ranked No. 1 in 2007 by the National Journal.

What is his economic plan? Let us look at the spending first. He proposes a $60B “National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank” which will leverage up to a half trillion dollars in 10 years. He also proposes a $150B green energy sector, a universal health plan which is estimated to cost between $50B and $65B per year, a refundable $4,000 tax credit for college tuition, a 10% mortgage-interest tax credit, a $1,000 refundable tax credit to couples to offset payroll taxes even if their payroll tax burden has been eliminated, a $500 refundable tax credit to augment a $1,000 savings account deposit, and he will triple the earned income tax credit for minimum wage workers.

He has promised a tax cut for middle class Americans, but is it really. He says he will raise taxes on all who make more than $250,000. That’s about 20% of all workers. He promises a tax cut to the bottom 95%, but his tax increase affects all but 80%, and half of those don’t pay taxes now. His tax “cut” takes the form of a refundable tax credit of $500 per person. So this really is nothing more than income redistribution, a keystone of socialism.

So, what is the cost? About $800B over 4 years, plus a loss of $50B per year by revising the Alternate Minimum Tax. How is it paid for? The tax increase on the wealthy will gain $50B per year max, which will offset the AMT loss. There is nothing to pay for the other $800B. His proposal to increase payroll tax will damage the profitability of all business, large and small. He will increase the capital gains tax, which will hurt business and retirees alike. All in all, this plan will cause many businesses to cut back on expansion and employment or cease business all together.

Taking everything together, I must reach the conclusion that Obama is a real and present danger to America. We cannot afford him at this critical time in our history. I urgently request your vote for McCain.

I can't agree more with rebel no saluting the flag, wierd logo

his muslim beliefs and going to a church that preachs hate of america should be enough for people to not vote for him, like I said i will not vote because there are to many chances for a hostile take over here in the good usa but it will be on your own shoulders win ity all hits the fan. I just can't believe the hype for this guy yes he's black yey for that but get a black guy that doen't have the ties he does it's ok to belive whatever you wnat but when you push it on people thats when you are dead wrong! i beleive he will do what he says and stick to his muslim beliefs and will ultimatly create a situation for christians like in europe. good Lord....

After reading through this whole post and all of the responses it just re-assures me that I'm doing the right thing by not being a part of EITHER party. This is ridiculous how much division/contention/hate that all of this election stuff causes! I'm still NOT going to be voting this time around because there is no choice in the matter, but if I did I would definitely be writing in a third party candidates name on my ballot because neither of these guys are worth my vote. I'm staying busy with being in the know with more important matters like how long our economy is going to hold out or how long until another 9/11 staged attack hits U.S soil and we pay even more by giving up more of our freedoms and liberties. This election is a total joke!

Rebel....

I have seen boards here in Independence that there is suppose to be a third party running he just isn't getting any publicity kind of like Ralph Nater. He never did all the tv commercials or anything, but he does have a board up here at 24 and Salisbury advertising for president. I cannot remember his name, but I think we all should vote in Bill Cosby, he would make a hilarious president.

~Life is to short for idiotic behavior!~

are you talking about...

Chuck Baldwin perhaps? I know Ron Paul have been endorsing him now since he is out of the race...

"The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke

IDK....

I will be leaving to go to my mom's and I will look at the board again to find out his name. That name doesn't sound familiar, but there again I didn't care enough to pay that much attention. I will find out for you and write it down and blog it on here for you, how is that? So are you done working in the expensive homes with expensive cars where everyone over there will go broke and lose everything yet? lol....

~Life is to short for idiotic behavior!~

nope...

We finished roughing in a big ol' house down in Harrisonville yesterday. Pretty nice area but I wouldnt wanna live out that far thats for sure...

"The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke

Really....

WHY? Do you know something about Harrisonville that I don't know? I thought that place was pretty good for low incomed people. Oh, the richies are moving in aren't they?

~Life is to short for idiotic behavior!~

yeah i guess so....

I think its barely in harrisonville though, its like right outside of pleasant hill or whatever. we just take 50hwy E to 7hwy and go south like 20-25 miles or so. But yeah there is actually a lot of nice houses already done and people living in them out there its pretty nice

"The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke

Cool....

I know where you are talking about, there use to be nothing there like 10 years ago...... It is beautiful and has history to it, but I would love to live up in Higginsville, talk about history.

I can sympathize with your

I can sympathize with your concern, but we've got to look at the future and what we've been drawn down to, and where we want to go. Let's look at your concerns.

1. Read his website if you want to know where he stands. Lots of info there

http://www.barackobama.com/issues/

2. His ties to Bill Ayers are superficial at best. (link below)

http://www.fightthesmears.com/

John McCain has his own ties to shady characters, like Charles Keating, http://my.barackobama.com/page/invite/keatingvideo , or his association with a group connected with Iran-Contra? http://www.kansascity.com/445/story/829795.html

3. Obama is not involved in any misdeeds ACORN may or may not be committing and hired the group in good faith.

4. In the Illinois Legislature, a "present" vote is a "no" vote to which you can explain "why". Apparently, they don't do that everywhere, but in Illinois "present" is the same as a no with an explanation. Not dishonorable, as you suggest. If you're really concerned, read the explanations that came with the "present" votes.

5 Okay, so he may be more liberal than most, but look what six year of "Conservative" Republican House and Senate rule with a Repubican president got us. Six years of solid "conservative" rule where the "conservatives" spent money and grew government in ways that made "liberals" look like amateurs. Maybe him voting different from the "conservatives" wasn't so bad a thing.

6. The numbers you give in his economic plan are a drop in the bucket compared the the hundreds of billions of dollars we've handed to Halliburton and the like over the last seven years, while they feed our troops rotten food, etc. (link below). HIs plan at least would put the money in the hands of the people who do the spending and sustain the economy.

7. Redistribution -- is that what happens when you give AIG 80 billion dollars and they "redistribute" $400,000 to their executives for a week-long resort retreat? Or is "redistribution" when the taxpayers bail out Mortgage schuysters to the tune of $800 billion? Or is "redistribution" is what happened when Sarah Palin levied high taxes on the oil companies, then gave every man, woman, and child $3,000 some dollars this year., thus assuring a high approval rating She hit the oil companies so hard on the taxes that there are doubts about being able to afford the pipeline she wants so bad.

When worrying about "redistribution", ask yourself whether Obama/Biden's tax plan will improve your life or make it worse... do you make more than $250,000? Or have your finances taken a hit like most people's? Do you want a tax plan that serves you, or let the wealthy keep more on the basis of "principle"?

And how to pay for it all? When consumers are healthier and the economy is healthier and everybody is making more money and spending more money, there will be more than enough to meet all needs. Better for that money to be in the hands in the people than to be paying for over-priced spa treatments and resort retreats for the rich. Because that's where are tax dollars are going under the current plan. I'd like to have a bit of that cash.

I don't think Obama is a bad guy, or would do things to harm the nation. I have confidence that he would surround himself with intelligent advisors, not cronies with stock in the oil industry and big pharma, making policy decisions to enrich his oil and corporate friends the way Republicans have done since they've been in power. If Obama/Biden deliver 1/10th of what they promise, America will be on much better footing. The Repubican way has proven to be for the birds. I say take a chance on change. We could all be happy (and healthy) again.

Thanks Leighann!

I liked your response.

Despite many attempts to smear Senator Obama, I feel more comfortable voting for him than McCain/Palin ticket. McCain has several ties to Keating 5, Iran-Contra, he has a terrible temper, has called his own wife a disgusting word, and Palin was just found in the bi-partisan report to have misused her power in Alaska.

I celebrate that we have someone like Senator Obama and Senator Biden on our side.

Crooked-talk Express

I see that you've jumped on the McCain bandwagon of smear tactics that completely ignore facts.

Ok, first off, Obama was eight years old when Ayers committed the acts the McCain camp is referring to. So I find the attempt to link Obama to those acts as ludicrous.

Also, I guess "civil" would rather spread the ridiculous garbage related to Obama and ACORN that is being spewed by scumbag voter-disenfranchiser Ken Blackwell (who led George Bush's Ohio campaign in 2004), than try to explain the merits of John McCain. Apparently John McCain has forgot his pledge to "run a clean and respectible campaign based on the issues" and his followers are apparently willing to overlook that broken promise and join in.

In his attempt to establish ties between Obama and McCain, "civil" failed to mention that Obama never directly worked for ACORN in any capacity. However, it's true that Obama did successfully represent ACORN in a lawsuit that forced the state of Illinois to comply with federal voting access law. Why is that a bad thing? Is the McCain camp arguing that Illinois should be allowed to disenfranchise voters?

If you want to talk about questionable connections that candidates have, how about McCain's connection to the Keating Five scandal? McCain's interference with the Lincoln Savings and Loan investigation cost the taxpayers more than $3 billion when that bank collapsed. Is this the "steady hand at the till" that we want during today's fiscal crisis? It's more like a steady hand IN the till.

As for candidates that we really can't afford right now, I think McCain fits that description best. His corporate tax cuts will assuredly add to the $9 TRILLION DEBT we've accumulated during the Bush presidency. At some point in the near future, our country is going to have to face up to that debt and raise money to pay it off.

Obama is being honest about a need to raise money, and he wants to get it from the people who have the most to give: those who earn more than $250,000 a year. McCain would rather continue living in denial about the debt, give the top earners in this country a tax cut and then pass a disproportionate amount of the national debt burden onto the middle class.

Now onto your belief that "liberalism" is a curse word or something. It's evident that your definition of liberalism is based views spewed by Rush Limbaugh and Fox News, who also don't know what it means. To help you out (from Wikipedia):

"Different forms of liberalism may propose very different policies, but they are generally united by their support for a number of principles, including extensive freedom of thought and speech, limitations on the power of governments, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, private property, free markets, and a transparent system of government.
Political liberalism is the belief that individuals are the basis of law and society, and that society and its institutions exist to further the ends of individuals, without showing favor to those of higher social rank."

Yeah, these really sound like very bad and scary beliefs...

Obama

The fact that Obama was only 8 years old when Ayers bombed the capitol is of no consequence. I was about that age when Hitler executed 6,000,000 Jews, but I don't think he would have been a proper person with whom I would choose to associate with at any age.

Obama's position on his relations with Ayers took a new twist today when Obama said that he thought Ayers had been rehabilitated. This after Ayers 2001 statement that he wished they could have done more.

According to Stanely Kurtz on the site http://www.barakbook.com/Profiles/MadeleineTalbot.htm Obama was recruited by Madeleine Talbot, head of the Chicago ACORN to train her group. I believe that is normally considered working for a group.

Unlike Obama's attempt to deny Ayers, McCain never made any such move regarding Keating. I believe McCain's statement was that it was the worst period of his life. Interestingly, the Democratic special investigator exonerated both McCain and Glenn, charging only the 3 other Democrats with anything.

The remainder of your post seems to be an attack on me which requires no response.

U are Right as Usual PP

U are Right as Usual PP
Obama was only 8 when Ayres was arrested…
When His wife and Ayres Wife worked together in the law firm and they all hung out & had dinner together and stuff Obama was about 28…when Obama declared his Politico intentions at
Ayres home that was a kick off fund raiser….
Where he filled papers for his campaign fund…
And when Obama got out of Law school his first job was to teach Acorn volunteers how to be community activists, then he served as the attorney of record for about 9 of there law suits, so you see U R right ….
Well sort of right….
But as u said, none of that has any thing to do with electing him President… Vote Obama ?

From the Associated Press:

"(Palin's) reference to Obama's relationship with William Ayers, a member of the Vietnam-era Weather Underground, was exaggerated at best if not outright false. No evidence shows they were "pals" or even close when they worked on community boards years ago and Ayers hosted a political event for Obama early in his career.

Obama, who was a child when the Weathermen were planting bombs, has denounced Ayers' radical views and actions."

yea PP

but O's web site admits there wives were friends and they hang out...
that's cool they worked together and were friends no biggie...

What do you know...

...more BS.

"O's web site admits..."
How about providing a link to this alleged information?

If you're going to just make stuff up, why not also say the Obama's planned the 9-11 bombings?

now we all know...

That Obama didn't plan out the 9/11 attacks, but our government sure as heck was responsible for them!!!

Jim Popkin, NBC News Senior Investigative Producer
The Obama campaign’s Muslim outreach director participated in a meeting in mid September that was attended by several controversial Muslim activists, NBC News has learned. The Obama campaign now concedes that was a misjudgment, and that its top Muslim staffer would not have attended the meeting if she had known the full participant list beforehand.
“Would a campaign staffer have attended if they were aware of the complete list of attendees? No,” said Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt in an email statement to NBC.
The Muslim outreach meeting
On September 15, newly named Muslim outreach director Minha Husaini spoke to a small group of Muslim leaders and potential Obama supporters at a hotel in Springfield, Virginia, several meeting participants and the campaign said. Two other Obama-affiliated Democratic Party workers joined Husaini and also spoke to the crowd. Some Virginia and Washington, D.C.-based Muslim activists and interested citizens attended, and flyers were passed out from “Arab Americans for Obama” stating Sen. Obama’s goals for achieving peace in the Middle East, protecting the civil liberties of Arab Americans and ending the war in Iraq.
Several participants told NBC News that Husaini and other speakers delivered a standard Obama campaign pitch. “They said, ‘We’re here to get the concerns of Muslim voters and let everyone know that the Obama campaign does want the support of the Muslim community,’ ” recalled one participant, who requested anonymity. The meeting was not advertised and some attendees got text phone messages notifying them that day of the meeting’s location, the participant said.

We were hopin

that wouldn't get out

I came to this conclusion also

I will be voting for McCain after much deliberation.

Mminnoe, your bigotry shows more and more. It is really beginning to bug me.

U got the wrong guy as usual

I don't think so...............

Your constant ranting shows your true self.

Not to mention the entire KC school board, and the KC City council...
Only people ain't for Obama is them old white hillbilly red necks like the TATTERS...
I like angry black women that are finally proud of there country...
Obama baby…

who is Obama ???

HIS FATHER WAS A KENYAN, AND A BLACK
HIS MOTHER IS KANSAN, ATHEIST, AND WHITE. SO
HIS FATHER DESERTED HIS MOTHER AND HIM WHEN HE WAS VERY YOUNG AND MOVED BACK TO LIVE WITH HIS FAMILY IN KENYA
HIS WHITE MOTHER THEN MARRIED AN INDONESIAN MUSLIM AND TOOK HIM TO THE CITY OF JAKARTA WHERE HE WAS FIRST SCHOOLED IN A MUSLIM SCHOOL.
HIS MOTHER THEN MOVED TO HAWAII AND HE WAS RAISED BY HIS WHITE MIDDLE CLASS - AMERICAN GRANDPARENTS THERE.
HE WENT TO THE BEST HIGH DOLLAR PREP SCHOOLS IN AMERICA, AND NEXT HE GOT INTO A TOP IVY LEAGUE COLLEGE, AND LATER, INTO HARVARD LAW SCHOOL –

A U.S. SENATOR'S SALARY IS NOT THAT GREAT, BUT THIS YOUNG MAN AND HIS YOUNG WIFE JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT A $1.4 MILLION DOLLAR HOUSE
AND, RIGHT OUT OF HARVARD LAW, HE 'WORKED' AS A CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST IN CHICAGO
WE CAN ASSUME IT IS LITTLE OR NOTHING PAY WISE!
HE THEN ENTERED POLITICS AT THE STATE LEVEL WHICH CERTAINLY IS A LOW PAYING JOB, AND THEN MOVED RIGHT TO THE NATIONAL LEVEL
IN ALL HIS MINIMAL TIME IN THE STATE, AND NATIONAL LEGISLATURES - HE'S NEVER LAUNCHED ANY IMPORTANT LEGISLATION, NONE WHATSOEVER. So none of this is his fault.
.
ENDORSEMENTS FOR HIM FROM OTHER COUNTRIES, ONES THAT ARE NOT EXACTLY USA FRIENDS, LIKE THE IRAN PRES, FRENCH PRES, THE IRAQ MINISTER THAT WANTS USA OUT.
HE is 'PROUD OF HIS AFRICAN HERITAGE' –
He has OUTSPOKEN PRIDE IN HIS WHITE HERITAGE? AFTER ALL - IT WAS WHITE GRANDPARENTS THAT RAISED HIM!
HE IS PRESENTLY A MEMBER, FOR OVER 20 YEARS OF AN 'AREOCENTRIC' CHURCH
BUT HE CAN CONFRONT NORTH KOREA AND IRAN AND RUSSIA WHEN THE TIME ARISES TO TAKE AMERICA'S SIDE.
YEAH - WITH HIS BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE, HE 'HOPES' THAT HE COULD BE A "UNITER" AND BRING US ALL TOGETHER;

Are you for him or against him?

I can't tell from your posts or your comments if you're for Obama or against Obama. Some posts, such as the one above, seems you're for him and against him in every other paragraph.

LOL....

I don't think he knows some days to be honest with you! Love ya MMinnoe, call me. LOL....
