It's a Wrap
I think the time has come for me to wrap up my contribution to the police services sales tax issue. Most people have made up their minds on how to vote on it by this time. Further discussion is fruitless. Time to close the debate. I am surprised at how little push the city has made for the tax. Should it not pass they have 3 more opportunities; February's primary, April's final and again in August 2010. After that they may have to amend 82.875 to ease up the population restrictions. One last note. There seems to be some misunderstanding about the statement that the tax will cost you only $20 per year. That figure is a bit low. It should have been presented as $32 per capita per year. Now I am done with this tax issue. Right now I am more concerned for this country and what our representatives in Washington are doing to it than I am about local issues. See you around the corner.

I'm not trying to start an argument or anything here, but what is the point of continuing to beat a horse after it has already died????? We all know how everyone on here feels about the tax proposal that is coming up in August, so why keep talking about it when everyone has made up their minds on how to vote...... All anyone is doing now is starting argument and nit picking everything, let it lie and leave it alone.......... I value everyones compassion and opinion, but holy crud guys, it has turned to the battle of who is trying to change who's mind..... No one will change their mind, so please leave it alone and move on to a NEW subject..........
........I'm with you civil.........

Amen to that, this thing has been point, counterpointed to death. It's kind of like the city council meetings that go on till 2:00 AM where everyone gets up and says the same thing, no new facts. Come on 8/5/2009 and we can hear the 'I told ya so' commentarys and put this behind us.
You giving up Civil, that isn't like you! My questions for you "is it worth us passing this tax?" " Or should we let it die out and wait?" I want your personal opinion, I have seen everyone elses but I respect you and your opinions they same as everyone else...... You can either tell me or have MMinnoe email it to me, don't care either way! Thank you for all the info!
One last comment on the tax. Is it worth passiong? In my opinion yes. Our force is woefully undermanned with 1.87 officers per 1000 residents. The average nationally is 2.2. With the extra officers the department can increase the number of patrol areas, thus reducing them in size, giving better coverage and faster response times. A precenct building in the East saves driving time at beginning and end of shifts and means less time off the beat when necessary to transport a prisoner. In all respects it is a worthwhile tax, but I don't think it will pass.
Hey Civil, thank you very much I really do appreciate it along with all the info!!!!
Now, what is going on with Washington and our gov't there? I'm still trying to catch up from vacation, when I got back I heard Walter Cronckite died and the Obama incident...... So what else has happened that I missed?
I think it safe to say he's votin for it?????
I was thinking about this, here on the Blog who have been active in discussing this are about equaly split, so the funny part is if we all vote we cancel each other OUT?
I love it, but the yes voters are more likely to vote?
Thank you! I had seen so many replies from him I got lost in some of the arguing! Now we can leave it where it is and move on to new blogs, how's that? I agree we will all cancel each other out and where it lands is where it will be at!
Hey dshrout, I still want that party so who's house or location will it be at and I need to know the time too?
Where's SallySee? I've been reading the blogs, but only recently blogging. Maybe she's right about the cops? I didn't see the police endorsement like the Mayor told mminoe it would be. Maybe Saturday's not a good day for releasing news? Maybe Monday?
Maybe I need to catch up, though, why don't you guys want to talk about it anymore? It's extremely important to our City.
......Charles the third?.......you know who SallySee is but don't know why the bloggers are tired of talking about the tax increase?......... ha ha ha...........btw.....do you know Laharl /Bard Song and his buddy who "plays for keeps?".........if you have been reading the blogs as you claim.......(and I know you have)...........then YOU already KNOW why..........your little agenda is as "clear as glass"..........

...and yours as well...
....Charles III.......welcome.........."why don't we want to talk about this important issue anymore?".........ROFL.......look over the blogs for the last three weeks.............it'll probably take you about 20 hours to read the "battle zone" reports..........everybody is exhausted .........except for the "NO VOTERs".......about 70% of us are going to "take our chances"...........live on the edge........and gamble a couple of Andrew Jacksons on the big "roulette wheel"............we think that giving the FOP what they are asking for is in OUR best interest........and there seems to be a lack of a better plan..............I'd pay whatever they want just to NOT have to listen to the whining anymore.............ROFL.........

The poll in the examiner is running 42% for and 51% against.
......when I told "Charles the third".......that 70% of us were voting for the tax?.......I was speaking in something called a generality.......referring to the % of bloggers which have been blogging on THIS issue of the tax increase......I didn't count EVRY "Yes Voter"........then figure it into a %.........I was speaking of civil , stratos , mminoe , dshrout , myself and maybe a couple others...........then knowing that SallySee , Larharl / Bard Song , draasch and yourself were against it.............maybe I should have used 60%.........polls aren't conclusive either way but you should be ecstatic.......maybe Independence can turn into "Bedford Falls"...............if they find another magical way to fund what the police need?......then great......but you know that the citizens are going to pay.....one way or the other......period..............it's been quite a while I think since Independence has raised it's property taxes........they could easily use this issue as an excuse to do that.........that would cost the poor people ALOT more money than the current proposed plan.......so I'm thinking all the good citizens of Independence would be lined up at you door to thank you.............either way?.......they're gonna get the equipment , cars , manpower and buildings that they need,.......and WE'RE gonna pay for it.......cuz "things aren't free".........and cuz we live here.............I guess it WOULD be nicer if another city would pay for the FOP needs for Independence...........since we're having "pipe dreams"................
