Toriano Porter is a pro's pro

Toriano found out about the death of his son while he was covering an assignment for The Examiner. I would never feel comfortable talking about this, had the news not already been reported by a blogger. Toriano stayed at the event, wrote the story, then left to deal with this tragedy. Although he has been a member of the sports staff for a short period of time, I can assure all Examiner readers that the quiet, and dignified young man we like to call the stealth reporter, is truly a pro's pro.

Thank you all for the kind words...

I agree with the others who have written.  We all appreciate Toriano and share our sympathy with Toriano and his family.  We are praying for God's richest comfort and blessings for you.

Bill Thanks for this blog. The Examiner is truly blessed to have this quiet, and dignified young man you like to call the stealth reporter, the pro's pro as you put it. Those of us who have been blessed enough to know him are not surprised at all to read this. We know this is more than just a job to Toriano he puts a big piece of his self in all of his stories. All of us who have been lucky enough to have had him write a story about us so respect that of him. This made me think of a story about him. One of my friends called me after 11:30 PM with a problem. The next day when we talked she told me she had also called Toriano. I said oh you did not she said yes I did and when he answered the phone he asked her what was wrong and even gave her some friendly advice. That was a Big WOW to me most people would not have even answered the phone let alone give someone friendly advice after 11:30 PM. May God Bless Toriano and all of his Loved Ones Top of the list his Grandmother. May they feel our prayers and LOVE and may the stories keep blogging in. Thanks for your blog and a chance to Thank a Pro's Pro once again!!!   xox

I am so sorry for blogging about this. Toriano is dear to my heart. He wrote all the articles about my son Christopher's death, as well as coming to the one year memorial walk we had for Chris last year and taping it. I didn't post the news until after I read about it on Facebook and saw that Toriano was with his family in St. Louis. I hope that my posting of this hasn't caused him any pain. I would never want to do that, because I think so highly of him. He truly is one of the most ethical and compassionate members of the media in Independence, in my opinion.  My heart is broken over this, because I know what he is going through. It's the loss of a lifetime.
Again, if I caused any pain over posting the blog, I will  remove it.

Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and nothing good ever dies

Cheryl Thanks for blogging about this and giving all of us a chance to reach out in Love and touch many broken hearts!!! He is the most compassionate members of the media in Independence. I think we could even say KC.   XOX

On the contrary Cheryl. I know Toriano will appreciate your blog and all of the blogs that came after. I myself though yours and everyone elses were beautiful and I'm betting Toriano will too.

Cheryl, Ginger is right!  I'm pretty sure Toriano and his family appreciate all the posting from your wonderful blog.  I for one am extremely appreciative that you let us bloggers know so we can send our sympathy through the blog and to his family that he holds so deeply too...  You did nothing wrong and don't think for one minute you did.  The entire blogging community thanks you for giving us this chance to show him and his family how much they actually mean to us.....  Yes, Toriano and his beautiful family are so much apart of us as a family and the only way we can tell them is through this blog of deepiest sympathies......   We are all very sorry for yet another young and handsome life being gone for no reason other than stupidity.....

I'M SORRY!!  We all will mourn with your family, the same as we all mourned for Christopher and still do.

May god be with his family and in our hearts.  As we prayer for his family.
