The Independence Regional Entrepreneurial Center: It's all I can think about most of the day, believe it or not
Despite dozens of articles, editorials and guest columns over the past three months, many are still craving more information about the proposed Independence Regional Entrepreneurial Center (a.k.a. the business incubator) that would be housed at the former Independence Regional Health Center.
Tomorrow, a press conference is scheduled to make the announcement official.
The Independence School District, the city of Independence, the Independence Council for Economic Development and CEAH Realtors will announce the creation of the IREC at 2 p.m. Thursday at 1509 W. Truman Road. For those who want more information, this is your chance. Come and listen to the presentations. Ask questions. Make your voices heard.
By the way, as a reporter, I have no opinion on either of the proposed revitalizations of the hospitals and whether the TIF funds were distributed "fairly." It's not that I don't care, because I do care about the issue. It's not my responsibility as a reporter to form an opinion. My job is to report the truth as best as I can and relay facts to you, the readers, so that you may form an educated opinion. This is why you'll never see me interject personal feelings or thoughts into my articles.

Adrianne we have seen Earl Bishops questions and truly feel they should be answered. Do you think you could get them for us? If not do you have any idea who could??? Thank You for blogging with us. xox
This is a meeting that should have taken place a month or more ago, before the TIF Advisory Committee made its approval vote and prior to the City Council approving the agreement between itself and the Edwards Group and ISD. It now becomes nothing more than a meeting of the principles involved and a waste of time for citizen participation. The terms of the contract have been set. Any changes a citizen might propose have the same chance of succeeding as does a snowball's survival in hell.
A report from the Examiner, at this point, becomes nothing more than the minutes of a meeting which has little interest to anybody other than the principles involved. From the beginning, our only interest in this matter was that the funds be distributed in a fair and equitable manner. In our opinion that did not happen. As more information has come to light we have to believe it never was going to happen. The Truman Manor, LLC. group was reported to have considered a lawsuit over the funds allocation. As I have stated previously, if they can find a basis for a suit, I hope they will pursue it. However, all my presence at this meeting would accomplish would be to force me to rush an early dinner and experience an elevated bout of indigestion.
Soooooo sad and soooooo true!!! xox

OK, could U interject some questions to these people about all the things we are concerned about into Ur articles.??
If U will read Earl Bishop’s article in today’s EX on A-4 about unanswered questions???
That would be a great place to start….
If Ur just going to repeat what these guys tell U, and reprint it with no thought to what U are reporting it’s a waste of space….
Do U still believe what U printed about Cleaver saying NO BANK got ONE PENNY???
OH and Peacock agreed with him, did U ask Robert about that yet???
If U are an investigative reporter do the job, if U are a lobbyist for them keep up the good work…Ur choice…
