Hello everyone
It's an exciting day at The Examiner. Our featured bloggers site is finally live, and I am anxious to hear from our readers. Please allow me to introduce myself further.
My name is Adrianne DeWeese, and I am the business reporter. I also cover the Independence Planning Commission, Grain Valley and Oak Grove boards of aldermen, anything chamber-related and the legislative briefings. I grew up in a small town called Wamego, Kan., just 15 miles west of Manhattan, Kan. I graduated from Kansas State University in May 2008 with a bachelor of science degree in print journalism and sociology. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories. I consider myself incredibly blessed to meet a myriad of people, ask them questions and then tell their stories.
Like Dale, I don't believe the newspaper industry as a whole is dying. Yes, certain newspapers are dying off, but I believe the newspapers that survive the next 12 to 18 months will be here for the next 50 years. I consider reporting an extreme privilege and a democratic responsibility. I take my job seriously (too seriously sometimes, perhaps), but I don't consider myself better than anyone else. I like The Examiner because it is very community-focused, with human interest stories and localized reporting.
If you ever have any story ideas, please contact me or leave me a message. I think readers should know that I look forward to coming to work everyday. Each day is a new adventure, and I know that no two days will ever be the same.
But, that's enough blogging for now. Time to get back to work. :)

Enjoyed your coverage of the McCaskill visit. Either I need a hearing aid or that was the worst set of speakers in existence. Thanks for filling in the holes for me.
We've been sending U story ideas for the last month??
Four of us have... We would like to know the answers to the questions we've been asking about the IRHC
TIF and How the Edwards group is gonna buy it with NO $$$$$$ down and no plan and etc....
How about dealing with this before we move on to more fun stuff???????
Mike,
I've been holding out on this, but I feel as though I've answered many of your questions in several articles. Believe it or not, I have several beats besides the IRMC TIF issue, and I must spread out my 40 hours across those issues. I appreciate your questions and concerns, but again, I feel that I have answered many of them in previous articles. If you don't believe me, I'd encourage you to go back and read through them again.
Thank you for your post,
Adrianne
Not to criticize, but you addressed our questions. Neither you nor anybody else has ever answered them. Actually, I did not pose them in order to get an answer from you., that's not your function. I really thought I might hear from a council member. Toward that aim I was partly successful. One council person did respond via e-mail. Even so the questions remain and as is the case in so much of our council's actions, the lack of explanation can be vexing. It is ridiculous when I find it easier to gather information about our national legislatures than it is my local government. A letter or e-mail to my Senator or my Representative will gain me more knowledge than I can gain from my local council. A few of us are striving for more openness in our local government, without a great deal of success, but we will continue.

Well thank U Civil, I was pretty sure I never heard any answers to our questions, I heard a lot of tap dancing by our City Manager, and now this reporter, but no answers…Elisa still waiting and she was at the meeting???
So go cover all the other stories U have AD, this is only a $10 mil fraud on the people of INDEP, not important enough to cover,,,
It’s a shame I really thought U might do the job here…
