The purpose is to reimburse the Independence School District for the start-up costs of bringing seven schools in western Independence and Sugar Creek into the Independence School District.

You gotta love Funkie…. I like the cut of his Jibe

I mean his heart is in the right place…

He’s like Captain Kid, Sailing into battle…With Black Beard.

He’s all shot up to the water line, his main mast is down, he’s on fire at the stern, there are bodies everywhere, and all of the sails have hole’s shot through them…

And he’s up on the Poop deck, polishing the brass on the helm….

His new idea about a no sales tax zone is a hoot…

He says in an area about 200 blocks sq. center about

Respect and the Law - He didn't have it

It’s a sad thing that the parents of the young man who killed the motorcyclist leading a funeral procession apparently didn’t teach their son the respect and/or knowledge that he should have. Not only should this young man have realized that he shouldn’t be weaving in and out of traffic while trying to pass a funeral procession but he should have known to have the common decency and respect to pull over and wait for it to pass.

I think New Blue Springs Mayor Ross has a very valid point..

Why would you spend $ to build a park when almost every back yard in your town, is a park ??

The world has changed, city and neighborhood parks are not what they once were..

What mother in her right would let her kids go to a park alone in today’s world?

They would get kidnapped, beat-up, offered dope, molested, robbed, Killed???

If she lets them play in there own backyard she can keep and eye on them, and most backyards are nicer in BS than most parks any where…

So why build parks when you can repair roads and services.

Industrial Park

At the budget study session this past Tuesday, Independence City Manager Heacock brought up the subject of developing an industrial park in the Eastern part of the city. This move was painfully anticipated with the formation of the EEZ. I quote from an e-mail by Tom Lesnak:

Bob is not a meretricious confabulist…

Bob is not a meretricious confabulist…

I tend to maunder, but I’m not a confabulist, or recreant or pestiferous, I do enjoy being discommodious…

And I tend to Bloviate…

Carrots, Eggs & Coffee

Carrots, Eggs & Coffee
A carrot, an egg, and a cup of coffee...You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again.

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up; she was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

In the neighborhood

What's up with all the people walking down your street this evening, as Bess started this discussion at the"Kitchen Table." We all asked her, "Don't people walk in the morning and evening in your neighborhood?" Then the "Ballerina" lets loose: Duh, 39th St.? Remember? People say there are shootings all the time and car abductions?

Earthquakes - Could they happen in Missouri?

Earthquakes in Missouri, could it happen?  What would be the damage if say KC felt one? Are the buildings sound or not? I've never been in an earthquake in my life, what does it feel like anybody ever experience one? was it a bad one? Could it be measured on the Richter scale? Are we safe? Do we need to be prepared?

Come Together; Right Now

When I signed in to hold up my protest signs at the Legislative meeting today, I was the fifth person to sign. The meeting only lasted about 15 minutes after the County Executive gave his little speech.

I noted that at least four sheriff deputies were in the Legislative chambers, again. Did anyone notice what they were doing? Did I miss something?

60 minutes Sunday…

The segment about the medical treatment to any one who is sick, just get here and will give you a million dollars worth of treatment???

How does that work?  I know at least a dozen men, vets that need surgery or special treatment of some type and the VA won’t do it…

murder

I don't know much about the murder in Grain Valley, meaning, what exactly happened. I suspect the boys did it and the fact that the mother killed was married to a present or former federal prosecutor wont help much, not that it should.   I feel for all the families, it cannot be a good thing. Perhaps the trial will let out some sort of what and why.  You just wonder what happened. A doubt if the two boys grew up and said they wanted to kill someone when they were 16, something went wrong some where.

Local website for us gun lovin types

I found this website http://www.kcguntrader.com/. It is just getting started. I thought maybe some here would like to check it out.

School Questions

I don't live in either the KC or Independence school districts, so I haven't followed the realignment of the two very closely. I need a little education on the subject.

Wasn't the decision to move the boundary between the KC district and the Independence district West the result of a petition from the public and a subsequent vote? The Independence District Board had no input in the move? They just have the responsibility to make it work?

worried and wondering?????

Are the Independence School Board A Bunch of Stuck-up SNOTS?

They always agree with the problem, do they do any work for the parents?  I wonder why they are so uninterested in anything parents have to say about their children.  Have any of you had this experience, someone told me they work for us.  I don't think they know this.

Fighting Global Poverty

http://www.examiner.net/letters/x356879032/America-can-t-afford-Obama-s-grand-scheme

As everyday Americans, people often wonder why the US should be involved with Global Poverty, especially when we are in the middle of a recession, people are losing homes, and more and more people are seeking help from various assistance programs.

Make Everyone Play by The Rules

This article is awesome. Since John and I have worked closely on a number of issues I know he has done homework on this issue.

I tuned in to a little Judge Judy, only to find Fox 4 doing a blow by blow live coverage of the arrival of the President…

I seriously believe the people had it right

You have b-lls to wake up at this point and sign on, what are you looking for respect?

american Idol

Well I think i was right back a long time ago when we first started out with this american idol season.Blue Springs is now on the map look at what all went on today and how many bosted the economy by being there and eating in the restraunts and staying at the hotels.

Just what was I thinking?

I’ve always thought of blogs as an on-line diary, a place to drop your thoughts. But this is not a very good analogy because it’s really just the opposite of that; nothing is private like the typical diary is. It’s out there for the whole world to read and criticize. This I’m am guilty of as well. At first I was only going after those who attacked me, but I got so caught up in it that retaliation became the norm.

Economic stimulus checks

While I'm of mixed emotions over Bush's decision to send out millions of dollars with the Economic Stimulus checks, I hate to say that I'm pretty darned thrilled to be getting some extra $$s.

Philosophically, de Toqueville's words keep echoing: "The American Republic will survive until the time when the government discovers it can bribe the people with their own money."

Coop's Six Month Vigil

We held a vigil at the site tonight where, six months ago, our Chris was brutally ripped from this world by a drunk running from the police. We had a really good turnout, around 60 people. It was good to see so many come to pay respect and honor Chris's life. We all miss him so terribly. To know we will never see him again in this life is sometimes almost impossible to bear. Chris was such a good kid. And he had such love in him for his family and friends.
